Robot Conga Line 06/04/2020

One of the underutilized powers of system dynamics and systems thinking is the use of the SD/ST tools to aid learning through meta-cognition. Using SD/ST tools helps students gain perspective of what they are thinking -- creating a powerful learning environment. In this activity, an experienced systems educator uses a goal-seeking loop to teach robotics.

Loops like this make people of all ages think. Share this and talk about it with your kids.

Dr. Elizabeth Sawin on Twitter “These simple cloth masks, we are told, don't protect the wearer from the virus, they just keep the mask-wearer from infecting others. In that way, mask wearing seems selfless. No benefit for me, lots of benefit for you. But that's only in a world without feedback loops:”

CLE: The Exchange Newsletter

CLExchange: Volume 27.3
Our first newsletter was the summer of 1992 and over the years we have seen dwindling interest in hard-copy. That fact, plus the cost effectiveness of creating a hard copy newsletter, has led us to going to an all digital format. We are still committed to communicating with all of you and sharing the good things that are going on using ST/SD in K-12 education.

Welcome to the new CLExchange!

Waters Center for Systems Thinking

This is such important work that needs to scale to more communities. Youth voice is critical for community impact. The future is their’s, so we need to give young people the tools and platforms for action so they can skillfully address the complex problems of today’s world.

As one 2016 participant said about the last CLE Conference: "I was very impressed with the variety of points of view among participants. Their vantage points within the modeling community ranged from expert modeler to administrator to teacher to non-profit consultant, and I found that most conversations were extremely engaging and thought provoking."

2018 should just as good! Getting excited for another great conference!
