Please be aware that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will be performing a test of its Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) this Wednesday, October 4th, between 2:20 PM and 2:50 PM.

This test entails sending a LOUD ALERT TONE to all cellular devices, televisions, and radios in the country. The one-minute-long alert will be transmitted over the course of half an hour, but each device should only receive it once during that time.

Domestic violence victims and survivors sometimes have a secret SAFETY PHONE that is hidden from their abusers. THIS TEST MAY REVEAL THESE PHONES TO ABUSERS.

TAKE PRECAUTIONS: The test will break through all silent sound settings survivors may have in place. The best way to AVOID the alert tone is to TURN OFF PHONES COMPLETELY.

Learn more about this test from FEMA:
