Howard County High School Basketball Update, 01/11/2022

Sands CISD Girls Basketball team won their district opener against Grady on Monday, Jan. 10, 2022. The final score was Sands 68, Grady 27.

On Friday, Jan. 14th, girls and boys basketball teams will have a district game against Borden County in Gail, TX. Varsity girls play at 6:30 PM and the varsity boys team will play at 8 PM.

Big Spring Lady Steers will take on Lakeview in San Angelo today at 6:30 PM. Listen to a live broadcast of this game on The Mighty 1490 AM and the New FM 103.9 brought to you by our KBest Sports Crew - Art Barrera and Christian Horton!

Coahoma Bulldogettes will host a home game against Stanton. Varsity plays at 6 PM. Coahoma and Stanton boys basketball teams will have their district opener for the season tonight and that game begins at 7:30 PM.

Forsan Lady Buffs will play in Colorado City against the Lady Wolves tonight at 6:30 PM.

There is a change in our basketball games tonight at Loop due to weather. The JV boys game has been cancelled. The varsity girls will start at 5:00pm and the varsity boys will start roughly 10 minutes after the conclusion of the girls game. These games will be at Loop.

SANDS CISD has an open position for Director of Instructional Technology. The job description is below.

Direct and manage the district’s instructional technology program. An emphasis will be placed on those who understand educational technology installation and integration in all District-wide applications. Sands CISD will be opening a new school in two years and this position will be heavily involved in technology decision- making for the new building. This individual will also develop and implement district wide technology-based staff development and training programs to facilitate the effective use of technology tools in instructional programs. The position will contribute to the development of initiatives of integration of technology into the instructional program. Knowledge of instructional software applications and technologies available for use in instructional setting are important. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are a necessity. Sands CISD is a team oriented institution that strives to create strong values of successful work ethic, integrity, and determination in our students. We want to add staff that share this vision.

The District will provide a competitive salary that is negotiable based on experience.

From Mr. Henderson:

I wanted to share some AWESOME news with Mustang Nation. Our very own Mrs. Tana Howard is the year's National Federation of State High School Associations Theatere Educator Award recipiant for Texas. One nominee per state is accepted for this award, and the nominee must be endorsed by the state association office. Criteria for evaluation include: organization and continuance of an activity program, significant and ongoing contributions to the field, years of both curricular and co-curricular service, contributions to the profession both in and out of the state. This award puts Mrs. Howard in very elite company with only 7 other national award recipients. We are very proud to have her at Sands CISD and we look forward to many more outstanding awards in the future. Congratulations!!!
