Our native garden ~ After/Before!

With help from the plant genius , we have started a native plant garden at the Saba Sanctuary! It may not look like much, but we’ve planted flowers and plants that are native to this area and that attract pollinators, like bees and butterflies! 🦋 Soon, we’ll have a garden that is both self-sufficient and more beautiful than before!

Our June meditation is the Open Lotus Heart Meditation. This is a simple yet powerful meditation. Hands are held in Lotus Mudra at the heart center and we chant the mantra Humee Hum Brahm Hum, meaning we are all one with the divine spirit.

If you’re in the Bay Area, enjoy a special Juneteenth celebration this weekend honoring our late father Richard D. Navies I. This event is organized by the Oakland chapter of the NAACP.

In addition to being a Black studies and Juneteenth “pioneer” since the late 1960s, RDN was also the Berkeley High School Dept. Chair of African-American studies for 20+ years and also Laney College professor.

While we won’t be attendance, big ups to the fam who will represent! ✊🏽❤️🖤💚

How you feeling today? I know you’ve been trying...trying to get your rest, eat well, drink more water, exercise, journal, work, be creative, laugh, and be of service to others. Just a reminder to keep trying! Remember to add a dash of affirmation next time you look in the mirror. Shoo, you can even do it now. You already know that special mantra you need to hear, so whisper it to yourself, smile, straighten your spine, and keep it moving. Keep on rising!
