I had an interaction in a lesson the other day which made me realize that while many parents know how to talk to their kids about a lot of things, practicing guitar isn’t necessarily one of them.

One of my roles as a teacher is to help families establish practice habits that work for them. This means when they’ll listen, when they’ll practice, and what will happen while they’re practicing.

Here’s one tip that works well to keep you and your child on the same team, helping to make practice something to enjoy together instead of another chore you fight about.
