Superintendent Schafer’s retirement open house is today (Tuesday) from 3-6pm. There will be some formal comments made around 5pm, but it’s meant to be for anyone to come as they’re able. Looking forward to seeing you there!

The Abington School Department will be hosting a “Retirement Open House” for Supt. Schafer on Tuesday, June 4, 3pm-6pm in the Middle School cafeteria. All are invited to this open event. We are asking that you please RSVP at the link below by May 27 so that there can be a close to accurate count of attendees. A donation of $15 is welcome but not required to RSVP.

Tomorrow night (Tuesday 5/14) the SEPAC is hosting an information session on understanding the new IEP. This is open to all parents who are interested in learning about the IEP. There is also an opportunity to connect and ask questions to all of the Special Education coordinators in the district, including Dr. Robbins.

It takes place in the AHS/AMS Library at 6:30pm. Childcare will also be provided by National Honor Society students.

Can’t get there, there’s also an online option that was sent to all via constant contact today (11:30 this morning).

Congratulations to Lauren Van Luling, as well as all those nominated, on being the recipient of the 2024 Deirdre Volunteer award, presented by the Townwide PTO. 💚

As Election Day has passed, I want to congratulate Heidi Hernandez on winning re-election and Pam Neely on election to the School Committee.

Thank you to Julie Groom for volunteering the last three years of your time to help the schools to continue to move forward. The board will continue the work you’ve been a part of.

Today is Town Election Day. Please let your voice be heard by casting your vote today. Polls are open 8am to 6pm at BBES gym. If you have questions on any candidates, or for them, stop and ask them on your way in. Good luck & thank you to everyone running and being willing to put yourself out there & volunteering your time to Abington! 🗳️

Also, make sure you stop by and visit the table selling GWP magnets and a scratch ticket raffle. The purchase of these items is to help raise money for the AMS 8th grade semi formal. 💚

I hope everyone who celebrates had a Happy Easter today.

Tomorrow is the start of April, and I just wanted to post a few reminders about things upcoming.

Nominations for both the Chet Millett and Deirdre volunteer awards are due by midnight April 2. A reminder was sent via Constant Contact earlier today with links to the forms.

Annual Town Meeting takes place April 1 at 7pm in the AHS auditorium. This is every registered voters chance to let their voice be heard as budgets & regulations are decided for the upcoming fiscal year.

Lastly, the Town Election will take place on Saturday, April 27 at Beaver Brook school. Polls will be open 8am - 6pm. Another opportunity for registered voters to let their voice be heard.

Just a reminder that nominations for Chet Millett outstanding educator and Deirdre Volunteer service award remain open until Tuesday, 4/2 at midnight. Friendly reminder, this usually means when clock strikes midnight on Monday night! Many have made that mistake before.
