🕯 Let’s remember together. If someone you love has died, we invite you to leave their name in the comments.

Just their name. A memory. A line they always said.

We'll hold space, together.

Financial independence often shows up in everyday moments when bills feel more manageable and decisions feel less rushed. 💄 Just because. Some things don’t need a reason.

The bright earrings. The second scoop. The handwritten note.

Wear it. Eat it. Write it. Call them.

This is the season for little joys.

🧹 Decluttering for clarity (not for Pinterest).

Start with one drawer. Pick up each thing. Ask: “Do I use it?” “Do I love it?”

If not, thank it. Let it go.

You’re not erasing your past. You’re making space to breathe.

July Fourth always shows up ready to party. The day comes with bright colors, loud cheers, and plenty of summer energy, while fireworks wrap up the night with a burst of excitement that never gets old. As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, it's a great time to reflect on our nation's history and enjoy the traditions that bring communities together. Happy Independence Day!

✋ Raise your hand if you learned about retirement from Doug in HR.

He handed you a pamphlet in 2004 and said, “Max out your match.” Then he retired and took the printer password with him.

It’s okay if you’re still figuring this out. We are, too.

Freedom didn’t reach every enslaved community at the same time. Juneteenth marks the moment in 1865 when Union troops arrived in Texas and announced that freedom had finally come. The news changed lives that day and shaped generations that followed. Local celebrations grew into a national recognition of resilience and progress. Juneteenth invites everyone to understand the past a little better and appreciate the strength that carried people forward.

Medical and dental costs can quietly add up over the year. Some expenses may qualify for a tax deduction if they reach a certain percentage of your income. Things like hearing aids, dental work, prescriptions, or certain home modifications may be included.

Keeping receipts throughout the year helps you stay prepared for tax season. Even placing them in a folder, drawer, or a box can help. Check out our blog for simple ways retirees can plan ahead for taxes. https://app.pyllrs.com/local/VA/Abingdon/seniors/retirementAndFinance/tax-saving-strategies
