New gun laws go into effect July 1 in Virginia New gun laws are going into effect in Virginia that might affect you.

07/01/2016

just as a reminder. today, July 1st 2016 there is 2 new gun laws that go into effect in the commonwealth of virginia. 1, today all states valid permits will be honored in virginia. 2, all private sales at gun shows that previously had no way of doing a background check, today forth, a VSP unit will be on site of all gun shows to run background checks on a voluntarily basis between 2 private citizens. this does not change anything when buying from a license dealer at a gun show... you will have to continue to submit to a background check when you buy from a license dealer at gun shows.

McAuliffe Signs Groundbreaking Concealed Carry Reciprocity Bill in VA. Millionaire Michael Bloomberg is spitting mad that the politicians he thought he bought were forced to bow to the will of the people.

As previously reported, government leaders in Virginia struck a bipartisan deal to postpone the revocation of reciprocity agreements until March 1. Today, all of the bipartisan bills will go to the Governor’s desk to be signed into law. An outline of the legislation is below:

House Bill 1163 and Senate Bill 610, patroned by Delegate Michael Webert (R-18) and state Senator Bryce Reeves (R-17), would recognize all valid out-of-state concealed carry permits. This legislation would also require the Virginia State Police to enter into reciprocal agreements with certain states so they will recognize Virginia’s concealed carry permit.

House Bill 1386 and Senate Bill 715, patroned by Delegate Scott Lingamfelter (R-31) and state Senator John Edwards (D-21), would require the Virginia State Police to attend gun shows in the Commonwealth and provide voluntary background checks for private transfers between attendees. These voluntary background checks act as an important safeguard for sellers because they provide civil liability protection.

House Bill 1391 and Senate Bill 49, patroned by Delegate Kathleen Murphy (D-34) and state Senator Janet Howell (D-32), would make it unlawful for any person who is subject to a domestic violence permanent protective order to possess any firearm while the order is in effect.

Va. will once again recognize concealed carry permits from other states 01/29/2016

well i reckon the effort put forth by we the people has won another battle. the few stipulations that were agreed upon to once again honor permits from other states i think is acceptable, at least thats just my opinion.

i would like to personally thank everyone who has made phone calls, sent letters, email or any correspondence with the members of the general assembly to include the governor, a very warm thank you.

when we stand together, greatness can be accomplished. when they divide us, they will always win. this is why we must always be ever vigilant, always ready to make those calls and send those letters. this wasnt just a win for the people of virginia, but also our neighbors in other states.

Va. will once again recognize concealed carry permits from other states GOP leaders will agree to a few concessions in exchange for nearly universal concealed carry rights.

UPDATE on virginia's ag to refuse to honor 25 states reciprocating of CWP

this morning i received news from a coworker who was on the phone last night with a local state senator. the information he relayed to me i will share with you here.

our general assembly have been going hard over what to do and how to do it to stop the attorney general.

to make a long story short... this is what is happening.

we are 3 votes away from a veto proof law overturning the attorney generals refusal to honor 25 states concealed weapons permits. 3 votes shy... that's 3 people we can change their minds. regardless if your a virginian or from another state, virginia welcomes you as shoppers, tourists, visitors, vacationers. why should you be unarmed to spend your hard earned money in a state when you can have a voice. i come to you on my knees begging for your help, your voice. contact them by phone, email and express your thoughts being told you cannot carry within our beautiful state. if you are a virginian, other states will refuse to honor your concealed weapons permits as the lt governor of tennessee has already stated he would do if in his power without legislation. spread the word and lets get to calling and emailing these senators.
i will be attaching a link with the current senators to help ease in calling and writing... click the senators name for phone numbers.

i would like to take a moment to wish all of our veterans a Happy Veterans's Day. for many of our veterans the war is over but the battles are still being fought. whether it be youth, body or mind, serving our country takes its toll in some form.
i would also like to thank everyone who has wished a vet a happy veteran's day whether online or face to face. even tho we serve not for the praises from others, it is nice to have someone remember the time that was served and appreciation of that service.
on a personal note, this morning as i left work, a sick co worker's father came and picked him up. after i helped the co worker to the passenger seat, i walked around the truck and noticed a USAF sticker in the window. i looked at his elderly father and asked with a grin, air force? he replied with yes. i thanked him for his service and for all he has done for us as he extended his hand. the look on the man's face was priceless. thats when it hit me.... its not what was done or what wasnt done.... but the fact he once signed his name on a blank check to be paid in full in the amount up to and to include his life serving our country so many years ago.
