At 88, Helen Woodyard decided to pursue a goal she had carried for years: earning her high school equivalency credential.

After completing nearly 1,000 hours of coursework through West Georgia Technical College, Helen finished the week she turned 91.

Her determination is an inspiration to adult learners everywhere and a reminder that education can transform lives at every age.

I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of my life waiting to feel ready.

Ready to make the change.
Ready to take the chance.
Ready to put myself out there.

Here’s what I’ve learned:

Ready rarely shows up first.

Usually, we make the decision—and our confidence has to hustle to catch up.

At some point, “I’m not ready yet” is really just fear wearing sensible shoes.

And Lord knows, I have plenty of sensible shoes. 😂
