Our newest Abilene EMT students were putting their skills to work this week as they learned the ins and outs of operating and maneuvering patient stretchers!

From loading and unloading to positioning, lifting, securing, and—most importantly—working as a team, these students are building the confidence and skills they’ll need in the field.

We’re excited to see this group putting in the work and taking another step toward becoming the next generation of EMS professionals!

A new semester is underway, and we’re excited to welcome our newest group of EMT students in Brownwood! 🎉

These students are beginning their EMS journey and taking the first steps toward becoming the next generation of emergency medical professionals. Over the coming weeks, they’ll be building their knowledge, developing hands-on skills, and learning what it takes to provide compassionate, high-quality patient care.

New semester, new beginnings, and new cohorts at TSTC EMS!

This week, our Abilene Fire Department Paramedic Class completed their clinical orientation as they prepare to begin clinical rotations this semester for the first time!

We’re excited to see them take the next step in their education and put their skills into action in the clinical setting.

TSTC is hiring a 2nd full-time EMS Clinical Coordinator!

This is an additional Clinical Coordinator position, meaning the new hire would be working alongside an experienced Clinical Coordinator who will provide training, guidance, and support as you learn the role.

The two Clinical Coordinators will work together to manage the program’s clinical responsibilities, including coordinating student clinical and field experiences, working with clinical partners and preceptors, supporting student progress, and helping ensure program and COAEMSP accreditation requirements are met.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced EMS professional who wants to make a difference beyond the classroom and play an important role in developing the next generation of EMS professionals.

🚑🩺 Learning Together. Caring Better.

Today, our EMS and Nursing programs came together for an afternoon of scenario-based training and collaborative learning! Students worked through a realistic patient-care scenario, practicing the transition of care from the prehospital setting to the hospital.

The real value of bringing EMS and Nursing students together is the opportunity to learn from each other. Understanding both the similarities and differences between prehospital and hospital care helps students better appreciate each other’s roles and responsibilities.

Ultimately, it all comes down to one shared goal:

❤️ Better communication. Better teamwork. Better patient care.

We’re proud to see our future EMS professionals and nurses learning together and preparing to work together when it matters most!

🌟 Introducing the TSTC EMS Student Spotlight! 🌟

The TSTC EMS Program is excited to begin a new tradition of recognizing the outstanding students who represent the heart of EMS.

Each month, we will highlight one student from one of our five EMS cohorts who demonstrates the compassion, professionalism, work ethic, and dedication that define the EMS profession.

Our first-ever TSTC EMS Student Spotlight is Colton Dollar!

Colton is a student in the TSTC Abilene EMT class and is from Anson, Texas. Outside of EMS, Colton is a big-time waterfowl hunter and an avid outdoorsman.

Colton has a passion for serving others, whether they are sick, injured, or experiencing one of life’s most difficult moments. A self-described adrenaline ju**ie, he brings energy, dedication, and a willingness to step up when it matters most.

Recently, during a challenging clinical call in a difficult environment, Colton volunteered to put on a Tyvek suit and immediately stepped into patient care. His initiative, courage, and commitment to helping others reflect the qualities we strive to build in every TSTC EMS student.

When asked why he chose EMS, Colton shared:

“I decided to be the change in the world that I wanted to see. In John 13, Jesus washed His disciples’ feet and served them. I believe I am called to serve like Jesus did, and I plan to serve in that way throughout my EMS career.”

Congratulations, Colton! We are proud to have you represent the TSTC EMS Program as our very first Student Spotlight. We look forward to continuing this new tradition and recognizing more outstanding students in the months ahead!
