Congratulations to Adam Snowball for making it to the final round for State Extemp. Adam will give his speech on stage in the Wildcat Chamber of the Student Union at 11 AM.

Over the last couple weeks the Animal Health/Vet Tech class welcomed Dr Becky Rankin DVM for a few guest lectures. Dr Rankin covered several topics regarding vet clinic operations, client relations, veterinary medicine calculations, prescriptions, injections, parasites, surgical procedures, applying bandages and physical exams. The class spent the last day touring the Abilene Animal Hospital. At the clinic the class also got to perform some real f***l and urinalysis tests while examining different types of parasites and treatment in the lab with biologist AJ Jones! We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Abilene Animal Hospital, Becky Rankin and AJ Jones for providing the class with this great hands on opportunity!

Last night multiple members and parents came in for Open Shop night at the Ag building to get projects finished up as the year comes to a close. Some of the projects will be on display along with other projects from AHS students at the CTE Showcase from 6-7PM in Gym B before the Senior Achievement night banquet on 5-7-24.

This week, the Abilene FFA members had the privilege of visiting St. Andrews and McKinley elementary schools for Ag in the classroom lessons. The members led a lesson on the dairy industry and dairy products, emphasizing the importance of the agricultural industry. They concluded the lesson by making Ice Cream in a Bag!

Great job to the team of members that competed in the Fabrication Contest at Abilene Machine. The members applied their skills by constructing a welding table from a set of blue prints. The The tables were judged on overall construction, weld quality, blue print resemblance and the teams ability to present their project to a panel of professionals. The Abilene team was a few points short of placing but worked very hard, overcame some adversity and completed some very impressive work.

Congratulations to the team that competed at the NCD Ag Mechanics contest at the North Central Kansas Technical College in Beloit!

The team competed in Welding, Electrical, Carpentry, Small Engines, and General Ag Equipment/tools.

As a team Abilene placed 2nd overall!

Yesterday, Mr Fry’s Animal Science class welcomed Dr Becky Rankin DVM and Nichole Riffel for a guest lecture. Dr Rankin covered several topics regarding small animal veterinary medicine including parasites, surgery, and physical exams. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Abilene Animal Hospital for giving us this opportunity.

Small Engines/Precision Measurement Contest

Four of our members went to this contest yesterday where they got to test their knowledge on small engines. This contest was a great opportunity for them and they enjoyed it!

⭐️96th National FFA Convention⭐️

The 96th National FFA Convention was such a blast! 10 of our members went this past week to celebrate such a great organization we get to be in. They got to listen to motivational speakers, congratulate fellow FFA members on their accomplishments, and had many other fun activities. They toured the Missouri Botanical Gardens, Ozark Fisheries, Louisville Slugger Museum, and the Squire Boone Caverns. They all had such a good time and got to meet people from all across the country. What a fun experience and we can’t wait to hear back from them with new ideas and activities!
