Meet Ms. Molly, PIM’s Tap, Ballet, Competition Ballet, & Pre Pointe teacher!

Molly started dancing at age 9 in Shawnee, KS. She attended many competitions and conventions while growing up and realized she had a deep love for expressing ideas and emotions through body movement. She studied tap, ballet, pointe, jazz, and contemporary. She even held free dance classes for neighborhood kids one summer and had a small recital at the end. Molly was an officer of the Varsity Dance Team in high school and really honed in on her choreography skills. She went on to dual major in dance and elementary education at K-State, as her dream job had been to be a dance teacher for a long time. During college, Molly taught dance at a studio in a nearby town, confirming her dream job was the right one for her. Molly took a break from teaching to start a family, but her love of dance never wavered and was genetically passed on to her daughter, Jori. Even Molly’s son, Jason, has some moves. Molly’s choreography style tends to interpret the music, because music moves her soul and rhythm flows from her body, so tapping is a strong suit of hers.

Molly is very excited to get back to teaching dance! She enjoys helping kids of all ages find a healthy outlet to express themselves, raise their self-confidence, and know they have a safe place to be physically active, have fun, and be happy.

ENROLLMENT IS NOW OPEN!

Meet Ms. Maddy! She is the owner/instructor at Poetry In Movement. She has many years of dance training and studio business background. She started dancing at the age of 5 at the Abilene Recreation Center, moved to Dance In Motion with Lacey Srna at the age of 8, and started competitive dancing at the age of 12. She has competed in Kansas City and Wichita. She has taken master classes with some of the top choreographers around the world in multiple styles through Tremaine Convention in Kansas City, twice through Millenium Dance Complex in California, and twice through Broadway Dance Center in New York. Maddy also trained in Alaska taking drop in classes at Alaska Dance Theatre and training in advanced ballet and repertoire and contemporary through West Anchorage High with professional dancer Lori Bradford. She has also been training in an online ballet class to further her ballet education. Maddy renamed Dance In Motion to Poetry In Movement after her previous teacher moved, when she was 19 years old, previously teaching for 2 years beforehand with Mrs. Lacey. She is dedicated on spreading her love and joy through the art of dance. We hope to see you all at Poetry In Movement this upcoming season! PIM is going into their 3rd dance season with many fun and new things. We will also be having a Christmas and Spring recital this year!

More about these artists:

Baylie Dockins began her dance training at the age of 3 at a local studio in Abilene, Kansas and by the age of 10 she began competing. Very early on in her competitive career, Baylie began choreographing for herself and other dancers. She won numerous choreography awards including, "Young Choreographer" at Dance America, "Future Choreographer" at Elite Dance Cup, and the award for overall choreography at Talent on Parade. Baylie has trained with many top professionals in the ballet world such as Ronny Underwood, Sasha Radetsky, Stella Abreara, Lisa Lockwood, Rolando Yanes, and Dorichia Sales. After graduating high school, Baylie joined the Tampa Ballet Theatre in Clearwater, Florida. There she performed in roles such as Tinkerbell in Tampa Ballet Theatre's world premiere of "Peter Pan" and Odile/Black Swan in Tampa Ballet Theatre's first production of "Swan Lake." Currently, Baylie is a company artist with Brandon Ballet, under the artistic direction of Dorichia Sales. Outside of performing professionally, she is also the assistant competition director and choreographer for Just Dance Academy-champions of multiple national awards.

Raised in Largo, Florida, Drew Travis Robinson started his foray into dance with various genres at the Tutterow Dance Academy. This gave him the tools necessary to gain acceptance into the Dance program at the Pinellas County Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School where he received the Arete Award, honoring him for being a rare force of creativity and vision throughout PCCA. On scholarship at the University of Arizona, Robinson choreographed and set multiple works annually, was welcomed as a frequent guest at Artifact Dance Project, was an Ambassador of Dance for African American Student Affairs receiving Chaka Khan, was selected by Colin Connor to perform at the Jose Limon International Dance Festival, and assisted in the research and development of various projects involving motion capture for dance preservation. Robinson was honored to perform various leads as well as choreograph during his time at Florida Dance Theatre before taking an offer at Tampa Ballet Theatre. While his competition years gave him versatility, Robinson is most at home with Modern. He has taught modern and more as a university employee, received distinction for his exemplary abilities, and was invited by the Limon Dance Company to reprise an old role before then being invited into the fold.
