Emails to families that swam with me last summer have been sent!

Howdy all! I've started getting emails, so figured I would post here. I will be messaging my families from last year in about 2 weeks to figure out availability. Lessons will start in either mid May or June depending on type of lesson requested and availability.

I will be limiting the number of homes I travel to so I can help more families in my own pool. Those of you who have been with me for multiple years- I can still travel to you, but I might not be taking on new families in which I travel to.

Hi all, I have tried for over a year to negotiate different properties for rent and sale to offer swim lessons year- round. I still have nothing. There is one last place I am waiting to hear from so there is a tiny bit of hope, however I need to let you know that I will NOT be available until AFTER 12:30 and as I do NOT have a pool, I can only currently schedule clients who have access to pools. I am very sorry for this- it really is a huge passion of mine and I am not giving up on my dream to one day have my own place. I will post a link for scheduling before next week.

Happy 2023! Quick update- Registration will happen late March. If interested in getting on my contact list please message me at [email protected]. I WILL respond however my responses may go to your junk mail. I had a LOT of people think I was not responding last year and turns out it was going to their spam when I responded.

So, please check that. It is very unlike me to not respond!

Previous families will have first chance at registration then new families.

Once you email me I will respond to gather times, type of lesson, inquire about pool access, etc. as I still do not have my own location.

Thanks and looking forward to helping your family in 2023!

Super excited to be attending another training/certification in September in Atlanta for Adapted Aquatics!

Took the kids to a pool today and had to write the City about the severe lack of safety. So much potential- really hope they take my suggestions. I know there are more pools out there like this so just be aware of what a guarded pool should look like.

I feel lead to remind my friends and family here what to look out for while choosing a guarded pool to cool off in.

Keep an eye on your family at all pools! Kids shouldn't be dropped off to be baby sat by guards all day. Guards should have whistles, be on stand with rescue tubes and strap ON correctly, they do not go under the guards feet!

They shouldn't be on their phone or leaving stand to get drinks, hose deck or change music. They shouldn't be on stand for an hour at a time- they need breaks and rotations to stay water aware, hydrated and healthy!!!

Guards should not be playing with the children in the water and on play structures while 1 guard "works." And their friends shouldn't be talking to them while on stand.

If there are more than 20 people in the pool you should see more than 1 guard on stand AT LEAST!!! Most pools have 2 guards on stand or 1 on stand and 1 nearby if it's a small pool. But always should have at least 2 trained responders.

There should not be anyone in the guard room but guards/staff.

When guards rotate both should have a tube, both should watch the pool and they should talk to each other to switch out. (EX: I've got eyes on the pool, climb into the chair and watch kid in yellow shorts-- I'm in the chair watching water, you can rotate along.).

Guards should not be eating on stand or wearing shoes.

I say this so you know what to watch for when you take your family to the pool.

Guards shouldn't be humming on a whistle for 30 minutes - it should only be used for communication so it doesn't become like crying wolf.

So often we talk about how to choose swimming lessons, but often we put all trust in Lifeguards who may have shown competence in their training class but lack of adult supervision in the workplace leads them to be unprofessional.

It is important you know what behaviors to watch for in Lifeguards protecting your families lives and when choosing which pools to swim in.

Safe summer swimming!!

Corrie.

Wishing everyone a safe Independence Day! Remember if you are around water this weekend to use layers of protection!

1. Designate a water watcher who wears a special badge, hat or shirt so everyone knows who is watching the kids in the water! Switch water watchers every 15 minutes.

2. Make sure all kiddos ask permission to get in the water!

3. On boats, rivers and lakes kids need to wear PFD'S NOT puddle jumpers. PFDs react differently in open water and are made for these waterways specifically.

4. Check Gates, locks and alarms around pools.

5. Take out all toys and attractions from the water each time water time is done so littles are not tempted to reach into the water for a toy and have an accidental fall in.

More graduates! E is on her 3rd year and started with me as a tiny baby before I was certified with Infant Aquatics and become a Survival Instructor! Now she can swim-float-swim as she refreshed her skills from last year. She was also a recipient of the C**t Catalina Swim Scholarship last year! We are so thankful for Madison Marchegiano (newest IA instructor just yesterday!!! And for carrying on C**ts Legacy with scholarships). And then there is M. This is his 2nd year and has grown so much! He jumps off the diving board, can swim float swim across two different giant pools and can also swim Elementary Backstroke! Way to go you two!! Mrs. Corrie enjoyed swimming woth you and watching you grow!

Both of these kids momma were students of mine in College! Wow!
