COOL Essay Writing Workshop - Wednesday, July 29, 2026
9:00 am - 2:00 pm (pizza lunch will be provided)
Abilene High LRC

You are invited to join the COOL College Advisors and Cooper HS AP English teacher, Ms. Pace, for a college essay writing workshop.

In the morning we will focus on the introduction, and the afternoon will focus on the body. Lunch will be provided.

The most common essay is 500 – 750 words max about the topic, “Tell us your story. What unique opportunities or challenges have you experienced throughout your high school career that have shaped who you are today?” Our goal for this workshop is for the students to walk away with a rough draft of their essay so that they can use the first few weeks of school to polish their work.

Space is limited and will be divided evenly between the three high schools. If interest is high, we will consider adding an additional date the following week.

Required Documents:
1) Student Birth Certificate
2) Student Social Security Card
3) Legal Parent/Guardian Photo ID
4) Proof of Residence, such as a current water, gas or electric bill, lease, or mortgage statement

RESERVED STUDENT PARKING OPENS SOON

Reserved parking for Seniors will open on July 20th @ 9:00 am.

Reserved parking for Juniors will open on July 27th @ 9:00 am if there are any spots left.

You will need the following items to purchase a spot.
1) Drivers License
2) Proof of Insurance
3) License Plate Number (picture of plate on the car)
4) $35.00 Dollars

Reserved spots can be painted starting August 1st.

The spots are first come first serve.

REMINDER CLASS OF 2027

Your senior cap and gown pictures will be taken in the West Cafeteria on -

July 6 - 1:00-3:30 pm
July 7-9 - 8:00-3:30 pm
July 13-16 - 8:00-3:30 pm

Sitting Fee is $20.

You will receive a card in the mail with details and a scheduled time.
If you cannot come at your scheduled time you are welcome to come at any of the times listed above.
