Fun, fun, fun! What a great way to spend a steamy afternoon- 4th quarter AR party! Relay races, limbo, a HUGE bouncy obstacle course, and finally a dunk tank for 5 lucky staff members!
SOLD! Third grade spent their hard-earned "money" on prizes today. They earn their money from good behavior, completed work, and classroom responsibilities throughout the year. Thank you to Mr. Langvardt for being our auctioneer and to Mrs. Stoffer for being our banker!

Flat Stanley Display Day 2019
Come see our Flat Stanley projects this afternoon at 2:45. We have "traveled" far and now 2nd grade wants to display the fun we had all the way from Alaska to Florida to Virginia to Hawaii and some states in the middle as well!
Mrs. A had a blast with the top three AR points achievers in each class yesterday afternoon!
Yesterday Blue Ridge 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students participated in a spelling bee. The winner was 3rd grader Kason, and the runner up was Courtney from 5th grade. The students all showed their spelling skills and had a blast!

Blue Ridge First Grade enjoyed the Rolling Hills Zoo and Museum despite the chilly weather.
Blue Ridge 5th graders enjoyed learning about our Kansas State Capital during their class trip to Topeka. The historical tour provided a wealth of information on the history of our capital and the state of Kansas. During the Dome Tour the students experienced both inside and outside views of the elaborate dome architecture. When our students turn 12 years old they are looking forward to applying to work as a page in the Kansas Legislature.
The Blue Ridge Kindergarten class had a blast in Abilene for their field trip yesterday. They visited the fire station, public library, rode the antique carousel, and took a trip on the train!
The Blue Ridge third-grade class had a beautiful day to go on their field trip today. We began the day with the movie at Great Plains Theatre in Abilene, and then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon at Rock Springs 4-H Center canoeing, doing the rock climbing wall, and exploring the camp.
[05/06/19] The 4th and 5th grade track meet has been tentatively postponed until Wednesday.
2nd grade enjoyed their field trip to Salina today. Lakewood Discovery Center was our first stop then we went to the Smoky River Museum in the afternoon. It was educational and fun for these students!

4th graders had a blast on their field trip to the Salt mine in Hutchinson! They learned so much today!
As a follow up to the Native Bee Challenge Program, Marcus Seirer was invited to visit with the 5th grade class at Blue Ridge. Marcus shared about being a bee keeper and the importance of pollination.
Thank you to Mr. Rodriguez for allowing your 6th grade band to visit Blue Ridge. We enjoyed seeing our BR Alumni playing their instruments.

Blue Ridge 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders had the opportunity to learn about Native Bees last Friday. The students enjoyed these activities!
Middle School Orientation was held today for all incoming 6th graders. The students toured the school, and met with each core teacher to learn more about becoming a 6th grader. Our Blue Ridge students are looking forward to next year at Chapman Middle School.
Blue Ridge 4th graders had a blast yesterday at the Dickinson County Water Festival!

In honor of Earth Day, the 5th graders presented a program for grades K-4. The students encourage everyone to take care of our Earth by making everyday Earth Day.

Blue Ridge 2nd and 5th graders were honored to have Dr. Vicki Sherbert speak during our Poetry Pal meeting this week. Dr. Sherbert shared poems she has written, and her favorite books of poetry. In 1985, while teaching at Wakefield School she started, "Pages of Promise". A collection of poems written by students. Blue Ridge 2nd and 5th graders have brought "Pages of Promise" back to life. Thank you Dr. Sherbert for being an inspiration for students. May you always keep a poem in your pocket.
Congratulations to the 5th grade class. They received word this week that their published book, "Starbase” has been selected as a semi-finalist in the Studentreasures National Book Challenge. Becoming authors is such a magical experience!!

4th grade has loved Mystery Science this year. They have been working on force and motion with their bumper coasters.
Today during Poetry Pals, we were able to FaceTime a Kansas Poet named Elizabeth VanHoutan, author of " Smothered In Ketchup " -- a collection of fun poems for kids to enjoy. April is National Poetry Month, so we enjoyed meeting a published poet and asking her questions.
A huge thank you to Mrs. A for organizing another fun Reading Reward Party! Another thank you to Blue Ridge PTO for funding our reading program. Students enjoyed the afternoon bowling! Strike!
