Thank you to the Irish Foundation for awarding our 1st grade class with a mini-grant for classroom library books. The students will enjoy having access to grade level books at any time.

The Fragrant Hilltoppers 4-H club came to Blue Ridge this afternoon to share more about 4-H!

4th and 5th grade had a very exciting day today! They received a letter from their pen pals in London, Ontario Canada. They also had the opportunity to meet their pen pal through Skype this afternoon! They were all very excited!

2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades were curious scientists today with predicting how many seeds each size of pumpkin will have.

No field trip- no problem! This rainy day is a perfect opportunity for Poetry Pals!

Blue Ridge Elementary conducted a crisis drill this morning. The new state mandate requires schools to conduct nine crisis drills this year. The letter attached was sent out to parents last week explaining the new requirements and process. Please call the Blue Ridge office if you have any questions.

Kindergarten is having fun learning with Mrs. Anguiano!

The Blue Ridge Kindergarten students have enjoyed watching and learning how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly during Science class! The students were amazed that a big Monarch butterfly came out of the small chrysalis! The students had fun taking the new butterfly outside and setting it free!

Second graders are reading their weekly story about the desert with a couple of desert animals visiting for reading practice.

[09/18/18]   Red Wheel fundraiser orders are due tomorrow, Sept. 19. Please make sure they are returned to school!

Thanks to Trooper Ben from the Kansas Highway Patrol for visiting us and for the informative presentation today! We appreciate you!

4th and 5th grade will be participating in the Global Read Aloud. They will be partnering with a 4/5th class from London, Ontario. They are super excited that their A Boy Called Bat books arrived today! A HUGE thank you to Alan Clark Body Shop in Manhattan for donating all of the books to our 4th and 5th graders!!

Fifth grade and second grade are working together on reading and writing poetry this year. Today, they met for the first time as "Poetry Pals."
