Join us in prayer for our school, our teachers, our parents, our students, this event, and our greater community.

Father Emil Kapaun gave glory to God by following his call to the priesthood and thus serving the people of Kansas and those in the military.

Father Kapuan, I ask your intercession not only for the needs of St. Andrew’s, our parish, and our greater community, but that I too may follow your example of service to God and my neighbor.

For the gift of courage in battle and perseverance of faith, we give thanks O’ Lord.

The Patron Saint for our Charity Auction is the Servant of God Father Kapaun.

This week we have begun calling to gather sponsors and donors.

It would be so wonderful if you would join us in prayer for our school, our teachers, our parents, our students, this event, and our greater community.

Be Our Light for the New Year

Come, Holy Spirit, Spirit of the Risen Christ, be with us today and always.

Be our Light, our Guide, and our Comforter.

Be our Strength, our Courage, and our Sanctifier.

May this new year be a time of deep spiritual growth for us, A time of welcoming your graces and gifts,

A time for forgiving freely and unconditionally, A time for growing in virtue and goodness.

Come, Holy Spirit, Be with us today and always.

Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Take, Lord,

And receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will, All I have and call my own.

You have given all to me.

To you, Lord, I return it.

Everything is yours; do with it what you will.

Give me only your love and your grace, that is enough for me.

Amen

Make us Servants

Lord Christ,

You remain, unseen, at our side, present like a poor man who washes the feet of his friends.

And we, to follow in your footsteps, we are here, waiting for you to suggest signs of sharing to make us into servants of your Gospel.

Amen

Prayer of Remembering

O God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry;

When I have work, help me to remember the jobless;

When I have a home, help me to remember those who have no home at all;

When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer,

And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency; bestir my compassion,

And be concerned enough to help; By word and deed, those who cry out for what we take for granted.

Amen.

Prayer of Gratitude

Let our prayer this morning be one of gratitude.

Gratitude did not make it into the list of four “cardinal virtues,” but it is sometimes rightly recognized as a foundational virtue.

Let us each in turn name something worthy of our gratitude, concluding with “and so let us say.” That we may respond, “For this we are grateful.”

Amen

Psalm 57: 1, 7-10

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, until the destroying storms pass by. My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast. I will sing and make melody. Awake, my soul! Awake, O harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing praises to you among the nations. For your steadfast love is as high as the heavens; your faithfulness extends to the clouds.

Lord God of Life,

Together with the beautiful traditions of decorating the Christmas tree, of singing carols and giving gifts, this Christmas dinner is an important part of our celebration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Come, Lord our God, and surround our feast day table as we delight in this joyous season of Christmas. Gift us in this meal with the taste of happiness as we savor this coming together of family and friends.

As sparkling stars and singing angels rejoiced at the birth of the Christ Child in Bethlehem, so may we take great joy in this our Christmas dinner-celebration. May You, our God, bless it and us in Your holy name.

Amen

12/24/2022

Dear Lord,

Our hearts are on fire today with love of You. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we pray for the strength and courage to share the love that we feel today, tomorrow and each day, with those who need it most, helping to build Your kingdom here on earth.

Amen

12/23/2022

Give us, O God,

The vision which can see Your love in the world in spite of human failure.

Give us the faith to trust Your goodness in spite of our ignorance and weakness.

Give us the knowledge that we may continue to pray with understanding hearts.

And show us what each one of us can do to set forward the coming of the day of universal peace.

Amen

Holy Spirit Prayer of St. Augustine

Breathe into me, Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may all be holy.
Move in me, Holy Spirit,
that my work, too, may be holy.
Attract my heart, Holy Spirit,
that I may love only what is holy.
Strengthen me, Holy Spirit,
that I may defend all that is holy.
Protect me, Holy Spirit,
that I may always be holy.

12/21/2022

Holy Rest (St. John Henry Newman)

O Lord, support us all the day long,
Until the shadows lengthen,
And the evening comes,
And the busy world is hushed,
And the fever of life is over,
And our work is done.
Then in thy mercy,
Grant us a safe lodging and a holy rest,
And peace at last.
Amen.

12/20/2022

Holy and perfect God,

You know I want to be available.

Help that desire sink deeply enough into my being for me to actually change and to say "no" to a least one worthy, but not urgent, task today.

Give me the ability to be open to the life I am leading; not the one I am planning to lead.

Amen

For our families that are interested in joining us for Mass this Christmas, Mass times for Christmas are 4:00pm, 8:00pm, and midnight Saturday night; Mass on Sunday is at 10:30am. If you prefer a 6:00pm Christmas Eve Mass or a 9:00am Christmas Day Mass, those will be offered in Chapman. The holy day Masses for January 1st (Solemnity of Mary the Mother of God) will be the regular weekend Mass times since it falls on a Sunday this year.

12/19/2022

God, who is more than we can ever comprehend, help us to seek you, and you alone.

Help us to stand before all that we could do
and seek what you would do, and do that.

Lift from us our need to achieve all that we can be and instead, surrender to what you can be in us.

Give us ways to refrain from the business
that will put us on edge and off-center,
give us today your peace.

Amen

12/18/2022

Surrender (St. Ignatius of Loyola)

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
My memory, my understanding,
And my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
That is enough for me.

Community members are welcome to join us for prayer at St. Andrew's Mass today at 7:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.
