Abernathy ISD earned a PERFECT SCORE on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST)! 💯

That doesn’t happen by accident. It takes great people doing great work, being responsible stewards of our resources, and keeping what’s best for our students and staff at the center of every decision.

A HUGE shoutout to our incredible Business Office team of Gina Laughlin, Shelby Vinson, and Rachel Hurt for the work they do every single day behind the scenes to keep AISD moving forward. We are so thankful for each of you!

And a big thank you to our Board of Trustees for continually making thoughtful, responsible fiscal decisions that allow Abernathy ISD to remain strong today while preparing for tomorrow.

There are some days that remind you exactly why this work matters.

Yesterday, we officially kicked off the 2026-2027 school year at Abernathy ISD with our district convocation, and what a way to start! We were challenged by an outstanding message from Ty Duncan reminding us that every interaction matters. Great schools aren’t built only through great instruction, they’re built through how we serve, encourage, and care for people every single day.

Then the fun REALLY began.

The band and cheer put on a high energy performance that was out of this world! We have amazing kids! Then, thanks to the incredible generosity of Ryan Companies and Aligned Data Centers, every one of our teachers had the opportunity to head to Walmart and shop for supplies for their classrooms. Watching our teachers fill carts with resources that will impact students from day one was INCREDIBLE!

To Ryan Companies, Aligned Data Centers, Walmart, and everyone who helped make yesterday possible, thank you for believing in our teachers and our students.

The excitement is real. The energy is contagious. And if yesterday was any indication of what’s ahead, this is going to be an incredible year for Abernathy ISD.

Calling All Abernathy ISD Livestock Exhibitors!

If your Abernathy ISD student will be exhibiting livestock at the Hale County Stock Show this January, it's time to connect with the Abernathy Ag Boosters.

Our fundraising efforts are already underway to support our 4-H and FFA exhibitors as they work hard preparing their show projects. We are excited to partner with our families and help make this a successful season for our students.

📢 Important Online Registration Update

Please note that our planned student rollover date is August 6th, but registration is still good to go! ParentPortal and registration will display your child's previous grade level and campus forms during online registration.

This will primarily affect families with incoming 6th and 9th grade students.

✅ Please complete the registration forms as they appear. We will have a campus-specific solution for 6th graders in place once students return to school.

The Administration Building would like to extend our sincere appreciation to The Dutch House of Plants for their generosity towards the contribution of the beautiful plants and pots that now brighten our office. Their kindess and support helped us create an even more welcoming environment for our students, families, staff, and visitors. We truly appreciate your partnership and support!

We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of this community!

The blessings have continued to pour in for our school supply initiative, and because of so many incredible donors, we have been able to significantly reduce the number of supplies families will need to purchase.

A huge thank-you to the Abernathy Ministerial Alliance for helping us knock so many items off the lists. Mr. and Mrs. Bilbo stepped up in a big way and completely covered the kindergarten and first-grade lists! The Alley, Triple O Storage, and The Junk & Farmers Market also came through with generous monetary donations, and we will be crossing even more items off very soon because of their support!

Any monetary donations received moving forward will be placed in the Abernathy counselors’ fund so they can provide supplies for students who may arrive without everything they need. Because in Abernathy, we take care of one another.

This is what community looks like. This is what it means to love and support our kids. We are incredibly thankful for every person, church, family, and business that has stepped up to help!

A big shout-out to Saddle Up Coffee Co. for hosting our admin team today!

There is something powerful about bringing a group of leaders together who are aligned, energized, and committed to creating the very best environment for our staff and students. The conversations were productive, the excitement was real, and we are ready to get this year started!

New staff, we cannot wait to welcome you next Thursday, July 30. All staff will return Monday, August 3, and then we will open our doors to our students on Wednesday, August 12!

The countdown is officially on. We are excited, we are ready, and we cannot wait to have everyone back on campus!

Abernathy ISD is using the summer to prepare for a safe and successful school year. As part of that work, law enforcement will be on campus today while our staff conducts safety drills.

The safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority, and we are committed to doing everything possible to provide a secure learning environment.
