Great Plains East— one of your 3rd floor RA’s, Zoe, was the a couple of weeks ago. Were lucky to have Zoe on staff here in East!
“I’m double majoring in English and history. I started out as an English major only, but I had some free time in my schedule and figured ‘why not pursue another thing that I love: history?!’ I’ve had support every step of the way at Northern, which has been amazing. I’ve been able to make unforgettable connections with faculty members, students and community members that I would have never expected to make. As an honors student, I’ve had the opportunity to take honors courses, which have been some of the most beneficial classes I have taken thus far because of how much they expand and challenge the way I think about things. As president of the Honors Club, I get to travel to Boston this fall where I’ll be able to connect with so many other honors students from across the nation! When I toured campus, I immediately felt the homey feel that I was looking for in a college. During my time here I’ve learned so many important life lessons. One of the biggest pieces of advice that I could offer to future college students is to not be afraid to question your major and what you think you know about yourself because college will either reaffirm you or will take you down new amazing paths that you would’ve never expected to find yourself going down. Knowing this, I’m always open to making new friends and helping anybody out whenever they need it. You get what you give in life.” – Zoe Buckstead
