To our AHS family, friends, and surrounding school communities, it is with the deepest sympathy that we share that Mr. Johnny Brooks, current AHS teacher, longtime educator, and esteemed coach, passed away yesterday. We express our condolences to his family and hold them in our hearts during this time.
Good evening Eagles,
This is Principal Quigg reaching out with some important reminders:
Now that we have completed our second week of school, we have a few reminders and adjustments to make.
Students that arrive late to school (after 7:25) must get a late pass from the late desk in the main lobby. Recurring lateness will result in disciplinary consequences.
Students are not permitted to carry book bags during the school day. Only bags such as string bags and computer carrying cases are permitted. Once again, starting Monday backpacks will not be permitted during the school day.
We have noticed a considerable number of students in the hallway during class. Starting Monday, we will begin enforcing that any student in the hallway must have a pass. In addition, students who are abusing their bathroom privileges may also be subject to disciplinary consequences.
As a reminder, while cell phones are permitted as a means of enhancing the learning environment, students must adhere to the policies each teacher has established for their classroom. If you are asked to put your cell phone away, to avoid instructional distractions, please do so. Refusal to comply with a teacherβs directive will not be tolerated and will result in disciplinary consequences.
One final reminder, while doo-rags, scarfs and bonnets are now permitted, students are not permitted to wear bandanas, hats, and hoods while indoors.
Two additional announcements:
School pictures for underclassman are cancelled for Monday and Tuesday due to Lifetouch having staffing complications. We will re-schedule for a later date.
We are excited to announce that we are moving forward with our homecoming plans this year including both our spirit week and homecoming dance. Unfortunately, due to the current Covid metrics, we will not be having a pep rally this year.
For those wanting to attend our Homecoming Dance (October 9th 2021), the following provisions must be adhered too:
Students must have proof of vaccination or negative COVID PCR test within 5 days of event for students and parent volunteers. AHS will have Covid testing available at our school on October 4th.
Students are not permitted to bring outside guests; the dance is only for AHS students.
Students and chaperones must wear a mask indoors.
There is no food or drinks permitted indoors, with the exception of bottled water.
*Please note: our homecoming Dance could be cancelled or postponed with very little notice due to rising metrics in the county or community.
Additional information about purchasing a homecoming ticket, including the parent/guardian permission form will be available on our website and social media sites early next week.
Once again, thank you for partnering with us to make this an amazing schoolyear!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Good evening Eagles,
This is Principal Quigg reaching out with an important message:
We are all so excited to have our students return to fully in-person learning, five days per week, starting on Wednesday, September 8th. As you are getting everything ready for your studentsβ first day of school, please be reminded of the following:
Each student will be required to have a proper mask and be wearing that mask before getting on the bus in the morning and before entering school. Appropriate face masks should have at least two layers of washable, breathable fabric that cover a personβs chin and nose and fit snugly against the sides of the face without any gaps. If a student does not have a mask the first day of school, one will be provided. Students who are non-compliant with the masking mandate will not be permitted to attend classes.
We understand that physical distancing will be a challenge this year, and we want to keep students at least three feet apart wherever and whenever possible. Our goals with these mitigation strategies are to minimize any possible outbreaks, quarantines, and isolations of our students.
We are very excited to see everyone back next Wednesday. We need to all do our part to ensure the safest start to school possible.
As always, please reach out with any questions, concerns, or needs you may have.
Thank you and have a wonderful evening.
