History in the making: Northern State University will hold the investiture ceremony for Dr. Alan D. LaFave, the institution's 19th president, on Friday, Sept. 25, at 1 p.m. in the Harvey and Cynthia Jewett Theater. Dr. LaFave makes history as the first alumnus to serve as president of Northern. The ceremony is free and open to the public—join us to witness this milestone moment.

There’s a lot happening at Northern State University this week! We’ve highlighted some of the featured events open to the public as we celebrate Gypsy Days / Homecoming, Sept. 21–27.

From coronation and the Presidential Investiture Ceremony to open houses, the Gypsy Day Parade, tailgating and Wolves athletics, there are plenty of ways to join the celebration.

We're excited to announce Rick Shamis and Rhonda Rylance as the 2026 Gypsy Day Parade Marshals! Fifty years ago, they were crowned the 1976 Gypsy Marshal and Queen. Now they're back to lead the parade this Saturday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. Make sure you're ready to celebrate 125 years with Northern!
