Monroe County Educator Prep program kicked off the first day of Teacher Appreciation Week with free t-shirts for all staff for each of the county schools and the county office. The shirts were designed by Kenslee Ferraro, a former student of the program in hopes to recognize that teachers and students are the "Mississippi Miracles". Teachers, your love and devotion to the schools, community, and students are truly unmatched! Thank you for your dedication and hard work! 🍎📝

Students also purchased shirts to match their teacher on this day as part of a fundraiser for the program. Thank you to all of our sponsors and parents that support our district. 👕

Monroe County students, first responders take part in disaster drill A powerful and realistic training exercise gave Monroe County health science students a first-hand look at what happens after a tornado.

🩺🌪️ Tornado Simulation Day – Part 2: The Debrief 🌪️🩺

After the intensity of the simulation, it was time to slow things down and reflect. This part of the day focused on the debrief process, where students and instructors discussed what went well and what could be improved.

They took a closer look at:
• Strengths shown during the simulation
• Areas for growth and improvement
• Decision-making under pressure
• Teamwork and communication

These conversations are where even more learning happens—turning experience into real understanding.

We also had the opportunity to share this incredible day through interviews with WTVA News, helping highlight the hard work and dedication of our students. 🎥

🚨🌪️ Tornado Simulation Day – Part 1 🌪️🚨

These photos capture the chaos, treatment, and care from an intense and hands-on simulation experience. From the field to triage, the ER, the ambulance, and even the helicopter—this was as real as it gets.

Our Health Science 2 students were challenged to assess and treat Health Science 1 students presenting with a wide range of injuries. They had to make critical decisions on:
• Who needed immediate care
• What level of emergency each patient was
• How to provide treatment with limited resources

And they delivered. 💪

We are incredibly proud of how well they handled the pressure, worked as a team, and stepped up in such a demanding scenario.

A huge thank you to our amazing community partners who helped bring this simulation to life—fire department personnel, nurses, EMTs, 911 dispatchers, sheriffs department, task force, and the AirCare helicopter crew. Your support gave our students an unforgettable, real-world learning experience.

🎉🏗️ Construction Banquet 🏗️🎉

We had a great time celebrating the hard work and achievements of our students. The food was amazing, the company even better, and it was a perfect opportunity to recognize the dedication and accomplishments of all those involved in the program.

A huge thank you to The Friendship House Restaurant for hosting us and providing outstanding service throughout the event. 🙌
