Busy weekend on the campaign trail!
ROCK THE VOTE! November 8th!!

Hi everyone! Im not very tech savvy and I realize I havent posted on here lately, but we have only 12 more days until election day!

Im happy to answer any questions you may have about where I stand. I did just respond to a community member on my personal page so I thought Id repost here!

Hi! My name is Danielle Spruell and I am running to fill a 1 year unexpired term on the MARSD BOE. I have 3 young children in the district so I have a vested interest in the direction of our schools. I am a nurse by profession and decided I needed to become more involved after learning about the new NJEA health standards. I was appalled by what I was hearing and needed to know how my children would be affected.

If elected to the board my goals are: 1) To promote parental involvement! Id love to see more parents at meetings and I encourage open forums and dialogue about what is happening in our district. 2) Maintain transparency of our district and its happenings. 3) Focus on getting back to the basics with academics. We are starting to now see the evidence that our children suffered a substantial learning loss (among other things) during mandated school closures. 4) Support age appropriate health curriculum and 5) Keeping our school safe and open!

Im happy to answer more specific questions if you’d like! Feel free to reach out. ✌️❤️🇺🇸

ABERDEEN, NJ – On Saturday, October 29th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Aberdeen Township Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public its 16th opportunity in eight years to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs. Bring your pills for disposal to the township municipal building located at One Aberdeen Square, off of Church Street. (The DEA cannot accept liquids or needles or sharps, only pills or patches.) The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

Last April, Americans turned in 447 tons (over 893,000 pounds) of prescription drugs at almost 5,400 sites operated by the DEA and more than 4,200 of its state and local law enforcement partners. Overall, in its 11 previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners have taken in over 6.4 million pounds—about 3,200 tons—of pills.
This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs. Studies show that a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family and friends, including from the home medicine cabinet. In addition, Americans are now advised that their usual methods for disposing of unused medicines—flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash—both pose potential safety and health hazards.

For more information about the disposal of prescription drugs or about the October 29th Take Back Day event, go to the DEA Diversion website or contact Detective Capt. Craig Hausmann at 732-583-4200 ext. 220.

I am a native to New Jersey married to an Illinois transplant for 11 years. My husband and I bought our first house together in Aberdeen eight years ago. We loved the idea of living in Monmouth County, with close proximity to the Jersey Shore, the Poconos, and New York City. We valued the excellent public school system in Aberdeen and the town’s diverse and welcoming community. We now have three children ages 9, 7, and 5 with our youngest just starting Kindergarten this year (Class of 2035)!

I am the daughter of a retired New Jersey public school teacher and I have fond memories of visiting my fathers classroom as a child. I learned the foundations of success from my parents at home, guided by faith and family. While growing up my parents emphasized a strong school and work ethic. I was taught the value of an education as a means to achieve self-sufficiency and happiness. My father would say “an education is something that can never be taken away from you” and now more than ever I can appreciate those words. I obtained dual bachelor’s degrees and went on to pursue a masters degree in nursing. I currently work as an advance practice nurse at a local hospital.

Today, I find myself questioning the trajectory of the New Jersey public school system; where is this state headed? I question the alternatives of private school or home school, but don’t we already pay enough in taxes?

I am running for Matawan Aberdeen School Board to keep our children and schools safe, to be a voice for our community, to maintain transparency and accountability of our district, and to encourage our district to remain flexible to make their own decisions without micromanagement from the state.

Look for my table at Aberdeen Day on September 24th!
