Come out and join us for Show Animal day on May 11. This clinic will be hosted at the Abbeville Extension office and is open to any youth in the state. You will be able to learn about how to show beef cattle, dairy cattle, market goats, and rabbits. Experts will go over what to look for in a show animal, what to feed, and how to show your best at the county shows. Register below


There is a brand new, online course designed for educators to receive professional learning about agricultural literacy and how to integrate it in your classroom. We are seeking teachers to pilot test the program. Check out the perks!

In the Agricultural Literacy Certification (ALC) course, you will explore the diverse field of agriculture, learn about its pivotal role in society, and get a better understanding of how agriculture can be integrated into your curriculum to enhance your students’ understanding of the world around them.

Tonight was a big night at the Abbeville County Extension office. Thank you to Matt Fisher who came and spoke to the Abbeville County Cattlemen. Also thank you to Miss Emma Uhall, who led the 4H club meeting and talked all about English spot rabbits.


The Upstate 4-H Tomato Project
*Please note that this Eventbrite is for Abbeville and Greenwood County 4-H ONLY. If you are 4-H member in another Upstate county, please contact your local 4-H agent for details on how to register in your county.
This project runs from May through August 2024. The Upstate 4-H Tomato Project is a hands-on environmental education program and independent-study project through your county 4-H office. Youth will be responsible for growing two tomato plants (provided) and keeping records throughout the project season. Record books are also provided. County-winning record books will advance to the regional-level for judging.
The registration deadline for the Upstate 4-H Tomato Project is Monday, April 15, 2024.


Regional winners for the 2023 4-H Poultry Projects record books have been announced. Congratulations to Lancaster County 4-H'er Lily Bailey for winning the Midlands region for her age division and having her book advance to the state level. We hope to hear those results in the coming weeks. Way to go Lily!! Hard work pays off.

The 2024 SC 4-H Rabbit Project is an independent project open to 4-H members ages 5-18. It is the responsibility of the youth and his/her family to secure a rabbit for the project. It does not matter what breed of rabbit you select. If you need assistance locating a rabbit, contact your regional rabbit project coordinator or your local 4-H Extension Agent.

4-H Upstate Fishing Project 03/01/2024

The South Carolina 4-H Fishing Project is an opportunity for youth to fish in their local areas and practice different fishing skills and techniques. Each participant will receive a Fishing log and spin lure. Participants are encouraged to go fishing throughout the summer and early fall and record their fishing trips. In October, participants return their completed record books to compete for prizes in their age division. The project is open to all youth ages 5-18.

4-H Upstate Fishing Project Use this event as the template for pulling order forms for mapping CUMIS data (3 demographic questions are mandatory and cannot be changed).

Registration for the SC 4-H Small Garden Project is now open!! 🍀🍅

This project is a hands-on environmental education program and an independent study project that allows youth an opportunity to establish, maintain, and observe a small garden. Youth learn concepts of goal setting, plant identification, pest management, and fiscal responsibility and have the opportunity to put that knowledge into practice. State and County Extension professionals will provide guidance, support, and resources throughout the growing season.

Join the buzz with the 2024 South Carolina 4-H Honey Bee Project, an exciting 4-H Natural Resources project starting this Spring! 🍀🐝

The Honey Bee Project is an independent-study project that engages youth (ages 5-18 years) in the active role of beekeeping, learning the basics of entomology, and gaining an appreciation for the role of pollinators in our world. Youth receive a record book and project-related educational materials with registration. Participants will need access to a honey bee colony to manage for the purposes of this project. Bees are not supplied with the project materials.
The registration deadline for the Honey Bee Project is Friday, February 23, 2024.
