Day 5 of Teacher Appreciation Week had us sliding into the weekend with the Cha Cha Slide — and celebrating being one week closer to summer vacation!

Today, our teachers enjoyed an amazing crawfish boil as we wrapped up a wonderful week of appreciation and celebration.

Our deepest thanks go out to Jo Mama's Crawfish, Stelly's Boiling Spot, D and T Crawfish, and Richard's Seafood Patio for their generous donations of crawfish.

A special thank you to Garland Bolden and Chris Mitchell for taking the time to boil for our staff.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to members of Lighthouse for Jesus Ministries – Sanctuary of Strength, City Marshal Jeremiah Bolden, and Deputy Reggie Hilts for covering recess duty and helping supervise students while our teachers enjoyed lunch.

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate the incredible educators who work tirelessly each day to support, teach, and inspire our students. We appreciate you all more than words can express!

What a joy it was to watch the Abbeville High seniors walk the halls of Herod Elementary once again. So many memories came rushing back as these young men and women returned where part of their journey began.

We are incredibly proud of each of you and all you have accomplished. From elementary school students to high school graduates — you made it! Your hard work, growth, and perseverance have led to this exciting milestone, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things your future holds.

Congratulations, graduates! Herod will always be cheering you on.

Day 4 of Teacher Appreciation Week had us feeling Footloose as we continued celebrating our amazing teachers with fun, laughter, and sweet treats!

Our Sunshine Committee kept the celebration going by serving up delicious nachos with all the fixings and cotton candy on the side.

Mini disco balls were also floating around campus throughout the day as part of our “Disco Ball in My Pocket” game! Teachers worked hard trying to hold on to their disco balls until the end of the day to redeem them for a prize—but if someone caught you and asked for it, you had to give it up! The game brought lots of laughs, excitement, and friendly competition across campus.

Thank you to everyone who helped make Day 4 another memorable celebration for our incredible educators. Our teachers truly keep our school moving with energy, heart, and dedication every single day!

Day 3 of Teacher Appreciation Week had our staff putting their “Boots on the Ground” as we celebrated another fun-filled day honoring our amazing educators!

A special thank you to Ena Darby for leading us in the dance and helping us keep the energy high this morning!

Our teachers also enjoyed a delicious meal of red beans and rice prepared by Ms. Cottye, along with chicken and biscuits from Popeyes.

To top it all off, Dynasty Dance Co. sweetened the day by donating cupcakes for our staff!

Thank you to everyone who helped make Day 3 so special. Your kindness, generosity, and support mean so much to our school family as we celebrate the incredible teachers who work hard every day for our students.
