What is being done about the current abject poverty percentage and unemployment rate? How can we address the corruption scandals in Parliament, Ministries, and agencies? Who should be held accountable for these actions? Who will answer the questions of inept patriotism and nationalism in Uganda? Who should monitor the Anti-Corruption Coalition units and the Inspectorate of Government in the fight against corruption? And most importantly, who should punish the Minister, Permanent Secretary, or Commissioner who steals public funds?

These are just some of the pressing questions that need answers in Uganda. The country is facing numerous challenges, ranging from widespread corruption to a high poverty rate and unemployment among the youth. The recent scandals involving embezzlement of public funds and extravagant spending by government officials have only added fuel to the fire.

The disorientation of the youth is a concerning issue that needs immediate attention. Young people are the future of Uganda, and if they are not properly guided and supported, the consequences can be detrimental. It is crucial to understand who is responsible for this disorientation and take proactive measures to address it.

The rampant corruption in Parliament, Ministries, and agencies is another major concern. The misappropriation of public funds not only hampers development but also erodes public trust in the government. It is essential to hold those responsible accountable and implement stringent measures to prevent future corruption.

Moreover, the staggering poverty rate and high unemployment among the majority of the youth highlight the need for urgent action. These issues can lead to social unrest and hinder the country's progress. Efforts should be made to create job opportunities, promote skill development, and provide support to lift people out of poverty.

In addition, the questions of inept patriotism and nationalism need to be addressed. It is essential to foster a sense of pride and loyalty towards the country among its citizens. This can be achieved through proper education, promoting unity, and encouraging active participation in national development.

The responsibility of monitoring the Anti-Corruption Coalition units and the Inspectorate of Government in the fight against corruption lies with the relevant authorities. Their effectiveness in combating corruption will determine the success of these initiatives. It is crucial for these bodies to have the necessary power, resources, and independence to carry out their duties effectively.

When it comes to punishing those who steal public funds, the accountability should be clear. Whether it is the Minister, Permanent Secretary, or Commissioner, anyone involved in corruption should face appropriate consequences. This will send a strong message that corruption will not be tolerated and will help restore faith in the government.

Ultimately, it is necessary for all Ugandans to wake up and actively participate in addressing these pressing issues. President M7 and the NRM Government must demonstrate their commitment to securing the future of the country and addressing income inequality. Only through collective efforts and effective governance can Uganda overcome its challenges and ensure a brighter future for all its citizens.

After decades of ideological economic and intellectual chatter on black liberation Africa is still under the yoke of colonialism from her tyrannical masters who still control African economics bottom up..
Having won their independence after the end of the second world war Africa was later overtaken by south Korea and even indian with India having experienced colonialism for over 300 years after great Britain looted her resourcess reducing India into an economic cripple...
It's a tragedy that african continues colonial mercantilistic economic models where we are exporters of raw materials to the west and easy who convert these into finished goods whose added value is later imported to Africa now converted into a massive consumer market....

During the post colonial decade India south Korea , china and many other colonialized nations in south east Asia quickly took the best from the worst following a three pronged attack began solving their economic problems one by one ....
Firstly these nations invested densely in advanced engineering Mathematics and physics at a time when Africans were investing heavily on social and political sciences ..This investment in scientific capital would come in handy when capital local and overseas would come looking for educated labour needed to run the new industries needed advanced Technical education ..
As a matter of fact chinas reforms went as transportation of millions if Chinese to the USA where advanced technological education in MIT produced the first class of Chinese engineers who would later help built ran and advance Chinese engineering as we see it today...

Secondly these nations provides specific incentives to particular engineering industries they saw it fit to develop...Japan moments after loosing the second world war created massive incentives in Capital , taxation , legislation and policies that gave japanese industrial complexes a competitive advantage over western companies. This japanese model would Soon be copied by south Korea and later china as foreign capital would soon follow the technical expertise of the Chinese back home as the rapacious brutal era of chairman MAO ended with china now allowing the free market to dictate all the factors of production of goods and services...
Soon china would exploit he technical advantages, build her own industrial bases ,advance local technical education and soon surpass many African countries that had began on equal footing with these south east Asian countries..
Thirdly these nations after realizing the importance of advanced research complexed would use their economic growth to fund technical research in particle physics advanced pharmaceuticals ( India ) and advanced microprocessor technology ( south Korea)..
Along these lines china would collaborate with the dutchs ASML EUV technology to become the world's leader in electronics industries...
Despite the domination of Taiwan in fabrication research and technical development of microchips china would continue to dominate the electronics industries by controlling rare earth minerals needed for these technologies to flourish..!
Fourthly the Asian tigers especially china after learning from Russia's catastrophic radical economic reforms chose to introduce the free market gradually starting with special economic zones such as Shenzhen where all the weight of the free market was brought to bare on advanced engineering Mathematics and research...
In these special economic zones local and foreign capital punctuated by massive state incentives would use the technical expertise manufactured from the US to build Chinese industrial complexes whose products would soon awe the world...
The Chines through reverse engineering would eventually fabricate every technological marvel of the west eventually rising to become the second largest economy in the world past Germany and the UK....

Africana can certainly borrow a leaf from the Asian tigers as she seeks to free herself economically from the control of the west.,.
By studying the economic history of the tigers , allowing direct exchange of technical know how between the tigers and Africa, by reforming the educational sectors through technology technical scientific and engineering auxiliaries and by creating a conductive environment for African free markets Africa could in less than 50 years become the Factory of world...

Be solution to Africa than wasting time and pretending that you're concerned!

Yesterday, we had a meeting with a team of *South to South Cooperation* China- Uganda agriculture network where we discussed a lot of issues including establishing partnerships, youth inclusion among other things.
This is meant to mobilize young people into agriculture and profit making ventures as we make it profitable for them in Uganda.

It was all generated from the great Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations meeting at their Head office in KAMPALA in the International Day of Millets 2023. See the Millets cakes, biscuits, cookies.......

In his recent article, "Retracing Our Steps to Fashoda in 2023," David Kenneth Mafabi, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs/Special Duties, attempted to shed light on the historical significance of Fashoda, a small town in South Sudan. However, it is crucial to address the missing lessons and the challenges faced by our own leaders that are absent in Mafabi's analysis. By delving into the historical context of Africa's marginalization, the impact of imperialism, and the strategic importance of the Nile Valley, we can uncover valuable insights that Mafabi's article fails to acknowledge.

The Thread of Continuity and Africa's Marginalization:
Mafabi briefly mentions the consistent marginalization and impoverishment of African people over the last 600 years. However, he does not delve into the root causes or the lessons to be learned from this historical injustice. It is essential to explore the detrimental impact of the unequal world division of work and market, which has perpetuated the enslavement, colonialism, and subjugation of African nations. By acknowledging the role of European armies, the slave trade, and colonial conquest, we can better understand the legacy of exploitation that still affects Africa today.

Imperialism and its Impact:
While Mafabi touches on the concept of imperialism, he fails to elaborate on its far-reaching consequences for Africa. By examining V.I. Lenin's analysis of imperialism as the highest stage of capitalism, we gain insights into the function of financial capital in generating profits through colonialism. Understanding the geopolitical circumstances of the First World War and the scramble for Africa allows us to contextualize the contemporary challenges faced by African nations. Mafabi's article misses the opportunity to connect the dots between historical imperialism and the present-day struggles for economic and political independence.

The Strategic Importance of the Nile Valley:
Mafabi acknowledges the strategic importance of Egypt and its control over the Nile. However, he does not emphasize the historical significance of Uganda's placement in the Nile Valley. By recognizing Uganda's geo-strategic placement and its consequences, we can better appreciate the challenges faced by the nation. The unequal colonial treaties regarding the Nile's waters, such as the Anglo-Egyptian Treaty of 1929 and the Egypto-Sudanese Treaty of 1959, have perpetuated imbalances and conflicts. It is crucial to consider the ongoing contention over the use of the Nile's waters and its impact on Uganda's development.

Lessons from Fashoda:
Mafabi briefly mentions the Fashoda Incident of 1898, where French and Anglo-Egyptian forces clashed over their competing interests in Africa. However, he fails to draw out the lessons from this historical event. The Fashoda Incident exemplifies the intense rivalries between European powers during the era of imperialism. It underscores the importance of understanding the dynamics of power and influence in shaping Africa's history. By analyzing the failed attempts of Belgium and Italy to advance their colonial ambitions, we can learn from their mistakes and strive for a more united and self-determined Africa.

In a nut shell, David Kenneth Mafabi's article, "Retracing Our Steps to Fashoda in 2023," touches on the historical importance of Fashoda and its relevance to Africa's past and present. However, it falls short in providing a comprehensive analysis of the challenges faced by our own leaders and the valuable lessons that Ugandans should learn from the mistakes of former leaders. By exploring the thread of continuity in Africa's marginalization, understanding the impact of imperialism, and recognizing the strategic importance of the Nile Valley, we can gain a more profound understanding of Africa's history and shape a better future for the continent.

"How can the youth tap into opportunities by AfCFTA, challenges and benefits"

We can all solve the challenges together below;

The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) faces several challenges as it seeks to promote trade and economic integration across the African continent [[3]](https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/01/african-free-trade-bloc-business-challenges)[[6]](https://odi.org/en/publications/ethiopia-and-investment-provisions-in-afcfta-issues-and-challenges/). Some of these challenges include:

**1. Tariff Revenue Losses:** One of the main concerns is the potential loss of tariff revenue for individual countries. As trade barriers are reduced or eliminated, countries may experience a decrease in revenue from import tariffs. This loss of revenue can pose challenges for countries that heavily rely on tariff income.

**2. Uneven Distribution of Costs and Benefits:** The AfCFTA aims to create a more inclusive and equitable trading environment [[2]](https://unctad.org/publication/african-continental-free-trade-area-challenges-and-opportunities-tariff-reductions). However, there are concerns about the uneven distribution of costs and benefits among member countries [[2]](https://unctad.org/publication/african-continental-free-trade-area-challenges-and-opportunities-tariff-reductions). Some countries may face challenges in adapting to increased competition or may struggle to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the free trade area.

**3. Infrastructural and Logistics Challenges:** Inadequate infrastructure and logistical capabilities pose significant challenges to the effective implementation of the AfCFTA. Limited transport networks, border delays, and lack of efficient customs procedures can hinder the smooth flow of goods and services across borders.

**4. Non-Tariff Barriers:** Non-tariff barriers, such as technical regulations, standards, and sanitary and phytosanitary measures, can impede trade flows and create additional costs for businesses. Harmonizing and aligning regulations and standards across diverse economies and industries can be a complex task.

**5. Lack of Institutional Capacity:** The successful implementation of the AfCFTA requires strong institutional capacity at both the continental and national levels. This includes developing effective dispute settlement mechanisms, establishing customs cooperation, and enhancing the capacity of regulatory bodies to facilitate trade.

**6. Political and Security Challenges:** Political instability, conflicts, and security concerns in some regions of Africa can undermine the smooth functioning of the AfCFTA. These challenges can disrupt trade routes, deter investments, and create uncertainties for businesses operating in affected areas.

**7. Informal Trade and Illicit Practices:** Informal trade and illicit practices, such as smuggling and counterfeiting, can undermine the benefits of the AfCFTA. Addressing these issues requires strengthening border controls, improving customs enforcement, and enhancing cooperation among member countries.

These challenges highlight the complexity of implementing a continental free trade area and the need for concerted efforts by African governments [[3]](https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/01/african-free-trade-bloc-business-challenges)[[6]](https://odi.org/en/publications/ethiopia-and-investment-provisions-in-afcfta-issues-and-challenges/), regional organizations, and the private sector to overcome them. By addressing these challenges, the AfCFTA has the potential to unlock substantial economic opportunities and drive sustainable development across Africa.

WHEN YOU BUILD OTHERS UP, YOU INCREASE YOUR OWN HEIGHT OF GREATNESS.

To all my mentors,

THOMAS EDISON AND HENRY FORD

In 1896, Thomas Edison, the great inventor who invented the electric bulb, was working on an idea to design a car when he heard that a young man who worked in his company had created an experimental car.

Edison met the youngman at his company's party in New York and interviewed him about the car. He was impressed! He had the same idea as the young man but he was considering electricity as the power source while the young man used gasoline engine to power the car. He slammed his fist down and shouted "young man, that's the thing! You have it! .. I think you are on to something! I encourage you to continue your pursuits!"

With these words of encouragement from the most highly respected inventor in the United States at that time, HENRY FORD, continued his work, invented a car and became wealthy.

On december 9, 1914, Thomas Edison's laboratory and factory got burnt. He was 67years old and the damage was too extensive for insurance cover. Before the ashes were cold, Henry Ford handed Edison a cheque of $750,000 with a note saying that Edison can have more if he needed it!

In 1916, Henry Ford relocated his home to the building next to Edison's home and when Edison couldn't walk and was confined to a wheelchair by his doctors, Henry Ford also bought a wheelchair in his house so that he could run wheelchair race with his friend and mentor!

Thomas Edison made Henry Ford believe in himself and got a friend for life!

LESSON
Don't ever be jealous of other people's success. If you can't win a race, help the person in front of you to break the record!
Your candle will not lose its light when it lights up another candle!

Yes! This article is for us as imperfect humans to follow!! For those who think they have arrived, who think some persons are no longer in their circle/class, who think those they wined with yesterday have no values again, you know what? We are light for others to see, only if we know.

Overcoming strong reluctance to work hard can be a challenging task, but here are a few strategies that may help:

1. Set goals: Setting clear and achievable goals can help motivate you to work hard. Break down your goals into smaller, more manageable tasks and create a plan for how you will achieve them.

2. Find your motivation: Identify what motivates you and use that to fuel your work. This could be a sense of purpose, financial rewards, or personal fulfillment.

3. Create a routine: Establishing a routine can help you build good habits and make it easier to stay motivated. Set aside specific times each day to work on your tasks and stick to that schedule.

4. Eliminate distractions: Identify any distractions that may be preventing you from working hard and eliminate them. This could mean turning off your phone, blocking social media sites, or finding a quiet workspace.

5. Reward yourself: Celebrate your successes and reward yourself for your hard work. This could be something as simple as taking a break or treating yourself to something you enjoy.

6. Seek support: Surround yourself with people who support and encourage you. This could be friends, family members, or a mentor who can offer guidance and motivation.

Overall, overcoming strong reluctance to work hard requires discipline, focus, and persistence. By setting clear goals, finding your motivation, creating a routine, eliminating distractions, rewarding yourself, and seeking support, you can develop the habits and mindset necessary to work hard and achieve your goals.
