International Women’s Day! I gave a talk about the Midwize program here in my community, Spillersboda, Sweden. Old and young in the audience, from 3 years to 92 years of age, were happy to celebrate the day and to learn about life in Uganda, Ethiopia and Kenya.

Great teamwork at Kuas meda health center! We have now practiced the dynamic birth positions, the intrapartum support, perineal protection and skin-to-skin care. This week, part of the Midwize team had the honour of presenting our work to , the President of Annika Östman Wernerson, , and esteemed colleagues from Karolinska, Makerere University, and Naguru Hospital.

We were thrilled to share insights and add to the conversation on improving maternal and newborn health. It was truly inspiring to have a room full of engaged minds eager to learn more about one of my favourite topics!

The Midwize training workshop has one theoretical part when we talk about the evidence-based practices within the scope of midwifery - intrapartum support, skin-to-skin care, dynamic birth positions and protection of the perineum incl avoiding routine episiotomy.

The following two days we work hands-on, side by side in the labor ward to practice and we study Quality improvements and how we can enhance midwifery care using the right tools in practice.

This week we spent with the wonderful midwives in Kampala, Uganda, Kawempe national referral hospital and Mulago women's specialized hospital. Great teamwork!

“The understanding of dynamic birth positions for women in labor and childbirth – a hybrid concept analysis”

In this article we describe the concept "Dynamic birth positions" from the perspective of the midwife and the birthing woman. Dynamic birth positions does not only define specific positions in which a woman can give birth but the whole process of labor and childbirth which in itself is dynamic and needs to be handled with dynamic minds and bodies from midwives and other health care providers, partners and birth companions. With this article we hope to spread some inspiration and clarification about the concept Dynamic birth positions - one of the componenents in the Midwize conceptual framework and now well integrated in several health facilities in Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia and Malawi.
