Honored to be part of the champions of Africa visionary. Thank you Segal Family Foundation . We are to keep the fire burning.

Belonging in a classroom should not be a privilege. 🫠 That's why we are glad to introduce MULIA Foundation 🇺🇬 as one of our newest partners. 💚

MULIA Foundation has been working in rural Uganda since 2014, rooted in the Bbanda Bugendedala community. The aim is both practical and personal, helping children with disabilities learn in classrooms where they can participate fully and feel that they belong.

Then COVID-19 hit, and the need changed fast. Requests for disability support surged, and the team made a clear choice about where to concentrate: students who are blind or visually impaired.

That focus now runs through the foundation’s three core programs, Inclusive Education, Inclusive Livelihoods, and Performing Arts.

Inclusive Education includes a vocational school where blind students receive hands-on training for real-world work. Inclusive Livelihoods extends support beyond the classroom by helping families build practical skills that can increase income and strengthen disability inclusion across the community. And through Performing Arts, community life stays part of the story, not an afterthought.

Today, we honor Salama Sabano, a true pioneer of our Inclusive Program. Salama has never let being blind define her capabilities or stop her from becoming the woman she is meant to be.

Currently, Salama serves as a Secretary and Desktop Support staff at Ancilla through our service-learning initiative. From documenting every organizational meeting to providing technical support, she embodies professional excellence and unwavering confidence.

Beyond her office work, Salama is a gifted musician and a lead vocalist in the Echoes of Light band.

Research that Rooted a Revolution
When we integrated inclusion into our programming, it wasn’t just a new project—it was the result of rigorous research to meet a pressing community need. Nakandi Peruth was at the heart of that research.

Today, her work has blossomed into a fully-fledged Inclusive Vocational and Skills Development Centre (Ancilla Inclusive Vocational Professional School). As a brilliant new graduate, Peruth proves every day that disability does not limit ability. We celebrate her as a true champion of inclusion who turns research into justice.

Our foundation's success is built on the strength and mentorship of incredible women.
Today, we celebrate Noel Nanyunja, the very first woman to join our Foundation at its birth in 2014. As a dedicated mother and mentor, Noel’s faith in our "dream under the tree" laid the foundation for everything we do.
A passionate farmer and advocate for truth, she bridges generational gaps with her open-minded leadership. Despite health challenges, her commitment to our vision of inclusive transformation remains unshakable. Noel, thank you for your resilience and for being a cornerstone of justice and mentorship in Uganda. Happy Women’s Day!

Redefining Inclusive Education in Uganda 🇺🇬
In 2023, we set out with a bold vision: to build a state-of-the-art environment specifically designed for vocational skills development for students with disabilities—with a specialized focus on those with visual impairments.

Today, that vision is a reality.

We are proud to announce that Ancilla Inclusive Vocational Professional School, a Mulia Foundation initiative, is officially operational in Mukono District! After welcoming our first cohort late last year, we have officially opened our doors to all students—with and without disabilities—for the 2026 academic year.

Breaking the Status Quo
Ancilla is a first-of-its-kind model in Uganda. We aren't just a school; we are a blueprint for how vocational training can be truly accessible. By bridging the skilling gap, we are empowering a generation to move from dependency to productivity.
