FEED OUR KIDS IN FAMILIES PROJECT!!
We are so grateful for the donations coming in towards the "feed our kids in families project" To the children in rural communities, it's more of hunger than the virus, we decided to come up as Friends and family of Shepherd's House to reach out to our children wherever they are in their families!
$10 can go as far as supporting a family with some posho, beans and 2 bars of soap. our target is to reach atleast 120 most needy families that we have identified out our 198 pupils, any extra or more will help the many other families that are desperately in need of food and soap!
Please consider feeding a hungry child in a needy family, this was their biggest fear and worry when they heard the news that we were sending them home in another lockdown!
So far we have given atleast half a bar of soap to 10 families that one one of our friends donated so kids can wash their hands and clothes, thank you so much our dear donor!
To donate towards this cause, please follow the link.

every $ counts and can feed a child!

DEWORMING CHILDREN!
Not even the 42 day lockdown can stop us, we love our kids, their education, health, feeding and spiritual wellbeing is our priority!
Our doctor recommended the two deworming tablets as the best for children, but we went with Albendazole! it's a single dose for everyone
Parents and guardians were so happy that the kids were dewormed! Real Hope! We cant thank you so much our donors, auntie #PattyandJoe, thank you so very much!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
It's with great gratitude, we thank you so very much our faithful friends and family of the Shepherds House, we have a health concern to deworm our children, and when we reached out to you, you donated generously towards the cause, we want to inform you that we got all the funds we needed for the deworming project, thank you so very very much!
Now that our children have been sent home for 42 days due to the rise of covid19 cases, we will be reaching out to our children in communities in their families to treat then from there, this too will allow us to fumigate the pit latrines at school and keep them closed to allow worms to die while the children are at home. We will keep you posted as our deworming activity runs!
Now, while we reach out to our kids in communities and families, we also would love to support our kids with food while they are at home, hunger to kids here is more of a challenge than the virus! We would love to, as we visit families to deworm the kids, to also come with atleast 2 bars of soap, some beans, and some maize flour for posho, this will atleast cost $10 for each family, we are looking to start with atleast 120 most needy families that we have identified out of our 198 pupils. Any extra or more will also help the many other families that are desperately in need of food and soap especially when we are locked down.
For any support, please donate to us through our PayPal account https://paypal.me/childrenofbulyasi?locale.x=en_US
We will keep you posted on every turn. Thank you, and thank you very much!

LOCKDOWN PHASE 2 😥😥😰
Due to the the high increase of cases of covid 19 in Uganda, the president has ordered a second partial lockdown, all schools and institutions of learning closed, churches, public gatherings, public transport etc.... have been locked down for 42 days!
it was very sad seeing our kids go, we only wished we could stay with them, the uncertainty of what happens to them while in the villages, the tears, the fears, hunger that afflicts them even more than the virus.
Praying for you all our sweet babies,🙏this too shall pass, praying that you stay safe!

HEALTH ATTENTION!!
We are having a serious health issue at Shepherd's House Junior School, and we are asking for help! The majority of our students are infected with worms, causing them to suffer itching, skin disorders, stomache, and loss of appetite, the skin disorders which start as a small itch, make children scratch their bodies continuously and the scratches eventually become wounds!
In Uganda, children are routinely dewormed at least twice a year if their parents and caretakers can afford it, but of course most of our pupils come from families that cannot afford it. The parasites spread easily among our children. And when untreated, can lead to scratching and open wounds and further infections. We must do something.
Deworming treatment is about $2 per child, but for us to treat the whole school will cost close to $450. That is more than we can handle. Any donation of any amount toward our deworming efforts would be so appreciated! Please help us help the kids!
We also would like to be able to fumigate our latrines to prevent future infections. That costs about $53. and $50 to buy bathing buckets for our new kids so they may not share these when taking showers, this too will help to prevent the spread We would be very grateful for donations for that goal, too.
To donate to up, please follow thr link belowhttps://paypal.me/childrenofbulyasi?locale.x=en_US

INTRODUCING THE SHEPHERD'S HOUSE FARM!!
Beautiful news from Shepherd's House! For many years food has been one of our major challenges, every single day, many hungry children come in both at our home and at school to see if they can get something to eat, let alone coming to study.
over years, we have believed God for food enough to feed the hundreds of children that come our way everyday, and one day God blessed the Shepherd's House kids with grandma Cathy, who has faithfully committed to feed these kids, thank you so much grandma cathy!
We never stopped believing God, like we will never stop, the hardest thing is to send away a hungry child, we always share the little food we have with all the children that come our way, on this, budgeting becomes hard and actually impossible, it's the reason we always ask family and friends to add to our food basket!
We have always had a dream to have a garden, to grow our own food so we can have enough, here we are, words can't explain our joy our hope, our gratitude, we now have a garden, we call it the Shepherds House farm, on it we have grown crops, corn, cassava and beans, atleast there is hope, that we shall have food!
Thank you #PattyandJoe for making this dream come true, thank you for the land, thank you for the seeds, the garden tools, the ministry needs bigger land to grow more food becuase of the ever growing number of children, but we now have a starting point, huge hope is here, thank you auntie Patty and uncle Joe, thank you so much
The rainy season is on and our crops are really growing so well. AND TE CHILDREN SHALL EAT!
To support our farm project for expansion and to add to our food basket, please follow the link

Our Story

Shepherd’s House is the vision of Pastor Jimmy Mugisha, a man who has dedicated his working life to helping vulnerable children in Uganda. A key milestone for Jimmy was 15 years ago when he worked for a large orphanage in Jinja, Uganda where he acted as father figure for some 250 children, many of whom stay in contact with Jimmy to this day.

Jimmy established Shepherd’s House Junior School in 2014, after seeing the desperate need for a school in the village of Bulyasi, which is about 5 miles from his home in Mpigi.

Today, the school serves 176 needy children who would have little to no chance for an education without Jimmy’s willingness to accept them into school despite the lack of teacher fees, uniforms, and school materials. Most of these children live with impoverished, ill, or single parents or guardians who are unable to provide for their most basic needs. Jimmy not only offers these children a free education, but also tries to give them whatever clothing, shoes, and school supplies he is able to come up with, along with at least one meal a day.

Jimmy passionately believes that education is the only path out of poverty and is dedicated to bringing love, hope, dignity, and empowerment to Bulyasi’s children.

General information

Due to lack of government subsidized education, families face enormous challenges to educate their children. • Over half of the people in Uganda struggle to survive on less than $1.25 a day • 25% of children in rural Uganda receive no education • 3 out of 4 children who start primary school never complete 5th grade • For every 100 girls in Uganda starting primary school, only 6 ever complete the secondary level.
