Today, I attended an admission ceremony for fresh students into Busitema University, Eastern Uganda. I was impressed that almost every student, fresh from high school, sings the East African anthem. In sharp contrast, I and the rest of the university staff who were present could barely utter a word in that anthem! I learned afterward that the anthem is taught in schools. Inevitably, by changing the mindset of the upcoming generation while at school, education.africa will pave the way for a brighter Uganda, in the same way the policy of teaching the East African anthem in schools has yielded fruits I witnessed today.

A great man once said “if you take all the money in the world and distribute them equally among people. After a while all the money will go back to their original owners”. WHY?
The poor are mainly consumers and the rich are mainly investors. Show me a POOR man and I’ll show you a man who
P – Passes

O – Opportunities
R – Repeatedly.
A man who sees challenges in every opportunity instead of seeing opportunity in every challenge. Being a MAN is not a title, it’s a responsibility. It means you have to answer financially in the
M – Morning
A – Afternoon and
N – Night.
You must take great risks to receive greater rewards. You must plan and strategize, you must value profit not wages, you must be focused and you must be determined if you want good success. Last but not least, you must involve God.
“The worst people on earth to serve are the POOR PEOPLE”
POOR: meaning “Passing Over Opportunities Repeatedly”. See the reasons below:
1. Give them for free, they will think it is a trap.
2. Tell them it’s a small investment, they will say you can’t earn much.
3. Tell them to come in BIG, they will say “I don’t have any money”.
4. Tell them to try new things, they will say “no experience; has it been proven to work? Who has gained from it before?”.
5. Tell them it’s a traditional business, they’ll say “it’s too HARD to do”.
6. Tell them it is a new business model, they will say “I don’t do network marketing and how many years has this business model been existing?”.
7. Tell them to run a shop, they will say “I will be tied down, I’ll have no freedom”.
8. Tell them to follow a 1-year business plan, they will say “it’s too long. Please, I can’t wait for so long”.
9. Ask them what can they do? They will say “I can do ANYTHING”.
10. They like to ask friends who are as hopeless as themselves to get their opinions. Even the Holy Book acknowledges the fact that blind people don’t lead blind people.
11. They think more than a University Professor and do less than a blind man.
Penny wise, Pound foolish. One major challenge POOR people have is “LACK OF ACTION!”
They enjoy their comfort zone, dwelling and swimming in their “own type of knowledge”. Anything beyond their reason “can’t work, and therefore it is fraudulent”. Remember: it’s RISKY to take a RISK, but it’s even RISKIER not to take any risk at all.
BE POSITIVE
BE SMART
BE PRO-ACTIVE
Learn to try out new things. The world is not ruled only by prayer warriors but by mental warriors. Thinking is the highest paying job in every field. Make time to think CREATIVELY & STRATEGICALLY

PSYCHOLOGY OF POSITIVE THINKING. TIPS FOR FULFILLED LIFE
1. Don’t complicate life. We won’t be here forever. Once this day is over, it’s gone forever. Your time is too valuable to waste on nonsense.
2. No matter what knocks you down in life, get up and keep going. NEVER GIVE UP. Great blessings come as a result of great perseverance.
3. Talking about our problems is our greatest addiction. Break the habit. Talk about your joys.
4. Good things come to those who believe, better things come to those who are patient, and the best things come to those who don’t give up.
5. Do not pray for an easy life; pray for the strength to endure a difficult one.
6. Disappointments were not meant to destroy you. They were meant to strengthen you and give you fortitude to accomplish your God-given destiny.
7. We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but by appreciating what we do have.
8. Your child will follow your example, not your advice.
9. One day, you’ll be just a memory for some people. Do your best to be a good one.
10. Associate yourself with people of good quality. For it is better to be alone than in bad company.
11. Don’t fear change. You may lose something good, but you may also gain something great.
12. When you love what you have, you have everything you need.
13. The greatest act of faith some days is to simply get up and face another day.
14. Never let the things you want make you forget the things you have – GRATITUDE.
15. Commitment means staying loyal to what you said you were going to do, long after the mood you said it has left you.
16. When you choose to forgive those who have hurt you, you take away their power.
17. Patience is not the ability to wait, but how you act while you are waiting.
18. Isn’t it ironic:
- We ignore those who adore us, but adore the ones that ignore us - We love those who hurt us, but hurt the ones that loves us.
19. Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. Every story has an end, but in life every end is just a new beginning.
20. You were born to win. Although to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.
21. Every day is a NEW beginning, take a deep breath and START AGAIN.
22. Know that you are loved. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are beautiful. You have purpose. You are a masterpiece.
23. Don’t compare your progress with that of others. We all need our own time to travel our own distance.
24. Surround yourself only with people who are going to lift you higher.
25. Bad things happen everyday to everyone. The difference is in how people deal with it.
26. When you make a commitment, you build hope. When you keep it, you build trust.
27. Two things define you: your PATIENCE when you have NOTHING, and your ATTITUDE when you have EVERYTHING.
28. Being honest may not get you a lot of FRIENDS but it will always get you the RIGHT ONES.

30. Be selective in your battles. Sometimes peace is better than being right.
31. Keep people in your life who truly love you, motivate you and make you happy. If you know people who do none of these things, let them go.

34. Surround yourself with positive people who will support you when it rains, not just when it shines.
35. Being defeated is often a temporary condition; giving up is what makes it permanent.

Africans’ overflowing self-confidence By Timothy Kalyegira

I once read an article on one of these American White supremacist websites. The article argued that the reason Whites are so good at what they do is because they lack self-confidence.

I found that strange, since we are always being told that self-belief and self-confidence are the all-important keys to success in life. The article explained that when a typical White read or hears something, he or she unsure of himself or herself. They don’t feel confident about their competence. So, the first thing they do is read up on it in a book, search the internet, or do other such background checking. That lack of self-confidence, argued this White supremacist site, is what makes Whites carefully research, read a lot and crosscheck facts, and so they become masters of knowledge.

Africans or Blacks on the other hand, it went on to say, are among the most self-confident people in the world. Self-confidence, this website argued, is the reason Africa’s and the Black world’s development lags far behind the rest. It makes us act on impulse rather than after careful thought, reflection and planning. Even a bare-footed villager angrily tells France not to interfere in Senegal’s internal affairs.

We wake up one day and just like that declare six semi-dead towns cities. No reflection, no weighing the factors and resources. What we feel, we just do. On social media, we Africans are all stars in our own eyes, always brimming with optimism and confidence. Idi Amin wakes up one day and decides the Asians should leave. No weighing of the consequences and the possible disruption to the economy.

Most Africans deep down don’t want to be lectured, advised or counseled. That self-confidence makes us feel we need no help. I notice it daily here on my Facebook wall. You post a thought or article. Barely have people read it halfway, then they are already responding energetically, accusing one of being “brain-washed” or talking nonsense. We Africans typically speak first, then think later (if at all). I’m followed by many Europeans but rarely do you see them comment. Those who do usually think through the topic, then comment.

Ugandans just shoot off a response, even on technical topics they are reading about for the first time in their lives. So too much self-confidence might be Africa’s problem, not “self-hate” or Neo-colonial brainwashing as most of us think. I found that White supremacist website’s observation interesting.
