The video here shows the danger of refueling while the engine is on.

Riders & their passengers are advised to get off the bike while refueling at a petrol station.

It's always safety in case of an accidental fire out break.

Switch off the engine while refueling or at least avoid racing the engine while refueling.

The pump attendant at HAB petrol station in Budadiri town council in Sironko district was negligently fueling this motorcycle while the rider was ignorantly busy racing the engine which resulted into sparks that ignited a fire out break.

This rider wanted a new bike but CCTV camera showed that he was the cause of the fire so he was forgiven & advised to repair his bike as the petrol station works on it's damaged pump.

Ensure that your engine is switched off while refueling to avoid risk of a fire out break.

Motor Third Party Insurance under the Third Party Risks Act of 1989 requires all Vehicles except government vehicles to pay MTP, it caters for accident victims on the road, compensates & protects road users who maybe injured by the insured vehicle. The compensation amounts are preset. Currently accident victims are paid shs1million maximum, if the accident involves more than one party the insurance company pays an aggregate of shs 10million.

when driving foreign cars!!! Driving an unauthorised foreign registered motor vehicle in uganda is an offence. vehicles from other East African Community (EAC) member states can freely be driven in uganda on condition that they were declared at the customs entry points. Such vehicles are allowed to stay in the country for one month, subject to renewal of their stay, but not exceeding 3 months. Vehicles from countries outside the EAC pass through the same process at the customs border points but are subjected to a payment of $20, about ugsh68,000 per month. When a foreign registered vehicle is driven in the country illegally, the owner risks losing the car & faces tough penalties.

FUEL SAVING TIPS: Drive fuel efficient cars of btn 1.5cc & 1000cc, cars use more fuel @ speeds above 88km/hr,drvg @ 88km/hr saves 25% fuel, drvg @ 100km/hr instead of 120km/hr reduces fuel cost by 13%, using AC raises fuel cost by 30%. if it is cool, let natural air flow thru the vents, instead of rolling down the windows or using AC. Remove extra wind resistance & weight, a loaded roof rack increases fuel use, carry goods inside the car if u can, removing unnecessary weight is better, use tyres in good condition, bad or wrong tyres raise fuel cost upto 13%. Above all avoid aggressive racing i.e forcing the car 2go faster than the gear can handle.

There is a new breed of crooks which drivers should be ware of. There is a group that operates on Masaka road around Kamengo & they target mainly private cars. This is how they play their game. A motorcycle rides past your car with the rider or passenger signalling that something is wrong with your tyres or wheels. As you slow down & stop to check what is wrong, another motorcycle pulls over with mechanics. They are clad in oil stained overalls & they will tell you that they saw your wheel zigzagging. They offer to do some repairs. If you are green enough to let them remove your wheel, they will pretend to have repaired something which was never there in the first place & they will ask for a day's pay. Worse if they discover you are distracted enough, they will not hesitate to remove valuable parts pretending to take them to a nearby garage for repair. You will not see them again.

There is a new number plate hijacking trend, hijackers follow you to a parking lot, after you leave your vehicle, they remove your number plate & wait . when you come back and drive off, they follow you. They then over take you displaying your number plate out of their window as if you just lost it & they want to give it back to you. When you stop to get your number plate back, guns come out & they take the car. It is a very well rehearsed & organised plan & everything happens very quickly. other motorists may not be aware of what is happening as you stopped the car yourself. Please be alert.

if you are driving at night and eggs are thrown at your windscreen, do not stop to check the car, do not operate the wipers and do not spray any water, because eggs mixed with water become milky and block your vision upto 90percent, and you are forced to stop beside the road and become a victim of these criminals, this is a new technique used by gangs. so please inform your friends and relatives.
