chimpreports.comFeb 24, 2020 1:44 PM
The convict Ntegeka Ismail
High Court judge Stephen Mubiru has sentenced Police Constable (PC) Ntegeka Ismail to 40 years in prison after convicting him of murder.
Ntegeka was accused of shooting to death one Adolf Kaganda and robbing him of Shs 400,000 and other belongings.
According to prosecution, the convict together with others, on 28th January 2018 in Kisenyi, Kampala, with malice aforethought, murdered Kaganda Adolf who had gone for jogging.
Afterwards, they allegedly went to his home and robbed his flat screen Television set, a woofer, and a bag containing 400,000 shillings.
While passing the sentence, the judge said the accused needed to get a deterrent sentence to protect society.
“You abused the authority entrusted in you as a police officer and acted with impunity. Such impunity requires that you to stay away from the community for some time,” he ruled.
The judge however deducted the 3 years that Ntegeka has been on remand and sentenced the convict to 37 years.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, Nov 17 – Three-time champions Nigeria, neighbors Uganda and Morocco have already qualified for next year’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon with one match left in the qualification process.
Uganda beat Cape Verde Islands 1-0 at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Kampala to move to an unassailable lead of 13 points while Nigeria progressed with a 1-1 draw away to South Africa.
Morocco qualified for the 2019 Cup of Nations when Group B rivals Malawi lost 2-1 away to out-of-contention Comoros.
Uganda’s victory is a welcome result for neighbors Tanzania who will qualify on Sunday if they pick maximum points away to bottom of the group Lesotho.
South Africa will meanwhile need to avoid defeat in their final match against Libya in March to qualify. Libya moved to within a point of South Africa after spanking Seychelles 8-1.
Other countries to qualify include the hosts Cameroon, Senegal, Madagascar, Egypt and Tunisia. The tournament will feature 24 teams for the first time.
The Comoran victory in Mitsamiouli in the Indian Ocean island state gave Morocco an unassailable six-point advantage over Malawi with only one matchday left.
El Fardou Mohamed Ben Nabouhane, who has been playing for Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League, gave the Comoros a second-minute lead.
Patrick Phiri equalised after 53 minutes and Nasser Chamed scored the match-winner in the 70th minute on an artificial pitch.
Leaders Morocco and second-place Cameroon qualify from the group with the latter assured of a place because they are hosting the June 15-July 13 tournament.
Cameroon are involved in the qualifying competition to gain match practice before defending a title they won in Gabon last year by defeating Egypt 2-1 in the
How are men????
Afande Muhammad Kirumira was on Saturday evening shot as he approached his home in Bulenga. He died an hour later at Rubaga hospital. The motive behind his murder is yet to be established.
While details of who shot him are scanty, over the years, the controversial former Buyende DPC has cut the image of a controversial police officer, never afraid to speak his mind. In March, Kirumira said that his life was in danger after he discovered that some people were trailing him.
The Nile Post brings you some of the remarkable statements made by Kirumira.
In March after he fell out with senior people in the police force, Kirumira wrote:
“Unknown people are trailing me from one place to another, with no clear motive. I am trying to fix a solution. Inform one another. I have now connected dots on this surveillance on my movements, these are associates of some officers facing various charges in military court and possibly some friends of Kitatta camp.”
When he faced the police disciplinary court at Naguru this year, the maverick police officer said:
“They have done a lot to stop me. They thought taking me to Nalufenya would scare me. I won’t backtrack from the truth.”
In January after he announced that he intended to leave the police force, he wrote on his page:
“I want to leave the police since it’s clean and am branded dirty. I will not accept to hold office meanwhile am being tried. I would love to keep my reputation as a freedom fighter. This is my decision which I shall not change permanently.”
When General Kale Kayihura was sacked as police chief in March 2018, Kirumira wrote:
“I prayed from Nalufenya detention facility, for 23 days, and 6 hours per night. Thank you God for answering my prayers right away, the way you answered me when the late thugs Kato Pius and Majwega Henry were fooling about. You gave them their due pay.”

Cholera is an acute bacterial infection of the intestine caused by ingestion of food or water containing Vibrio cholerae, serogroups O1 or O139. Symptoms include acute watery diarrhoea and vomiting which can result in severe dehydration or water loss. When left untreated, death can occur rapidly – sometimes within hours.
Cholera is transmitted through contaminated food or drinking-water, as well as by person-to person contact through the faecal-oral route. Sanitary conditions in the environment play an important role since the V. choleraebacterium survives and multiplies outside the human body and can spread rapidly where living conditions are crowded and water sources unprotected and where there is no safe disposal of faeces.
Vibrio cholerae is a curved and a rod shaped bacterium that is responsible for the cause of this disease. It is basically present in the free living cells of living organisms and also found in coastal water areas. It also lives in the small intestine of the human body, being one of the major contaminants in the sewage.
SEM image of Vibrio cholerae
The contamination of drinking water owing to the human wasteful activities also leads to this disease. This bacterium in the small intestine releases an Exo-toxin in the body thus causes a flow of water and certain electrolytes such as the sodium bicarbonate, chloride etc, into the small intestine.
cholerae incubates between 2 hours and 5 days before causing symptoms, according to the WHO. Most of the time, symptoms appear within 2 to 3 days of exposure to the bacteria, according to the CDC.
