A moment worth celebrating. 🏆

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our Founder & CEO, Robert Bob Okello, who has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement in African Tech Award at the Tech & AI Expo Zanzibar 2026. (The Zanzibar Tech & AI International Expo )

From building technology ventures to empowering young people with digital skills and creating pathways from learning to earning, Robert has spent years championing Africa’s talent and its place in the global digital economy.

This recognition is not just about one person. It represents the many people, teams, partners, mentors, learners, and communities who have been part of the journey.

At Maarifasasa, we believe Africa's talent is not a gap to be filled, but the world's greatest untapped opportunity. Congratulations, Robert. And thank you for continuing to build.

It is with a heavy heart that we join the people of Tooro in mourning the passing of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro, Rukirabasaija Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

Omukama Atulize. Enkuba Etutire.

Crowned as a child, His Majesty grew into a leader of rare foresight, a monarch who understood early that the future of his people would be built on knowledge, digital skills, and opportunity.

It was that bold and visionary leadership, expressed through his 25-Year Vision for Tooro, that brought Maarifasasa and the Kingdom together to establish the Tooro Digital Impact Hub in Fort Portal, a deliberate investment in the young people of Tooro.

To us, that partnership was never simply an MoU. It was a shared belief in the creativity, enterprise, and potential of Tooro’s youth.

In honour of his memory, we at Maarifasasa make this pledge: we will carry this mission forward. We will keep working to equip the youth and enterprises of Tooro with the skills to earn, create, and shape their own futures, as part of our mission to unlock one million digital earning opportunities for Africa’s young people.

His Majesty’s vision will live on in every young person of Tooro who finds opportunity through this work.

To the Royal Family, the Queen Mother, the Babiito, and all the people of Tooro; our deepest condolences. We mourn with you, and we stand with you.

May His Majesty rest in eternal peace.

Proud to see our founder, Robert Bob Okello, moderating this important Young Aurora session today.

This is the kind of space that reminds us why youth leadership matters. Three student teams will be pitching bold humanitarian solutions for a chance to secure a $10,000 grant, tackling real challenges from migrant worker empowerment, to clean water access, to menstrual health education.

At Maarifasasa, we believe deeply in equipping young people not just with skills, but with the confidence and platforms to solve meaningful problems in their communities. That is why it is always encouraging to see leaders from our ecosystem contributing to conversations and initiatives that are shaping a more compassionate, innovative, and action-oriented generation.

Wishing all the participating teams the very best as they present their ideas live.
