THE SCHOOL PROFILE
The idea of opening up this project in Butubi zone was initiated by me as the executive director, Ibanda Isaac, on 5 April 2014. Akuwa Samali was presented with, and welcomed the project and agreed to work with me in most of the things at school. She is the head
teacher, being she a qualified teacher in that section. Our main goal of starting this project is to help pupils in our area and enrich our community as whole. More than 3 acres of land was donated to the project by our parent (Mom) Mrs. Kasuswa Racheal, more than enough to build and flourish on with proper resources. The project was shared with the community who appreciated and welcomed the idea through the chairperson LC I Butubi and his committee. We named this project GOOD FRIENDS JUNIOR SCHOOL (GFJS) due to the fact that we love working with friends who are good. It is an orphanage private school supporting over 240 pupils. GFJS is a Christian based school and we believed that Jesus is our savior. We started with four classes and intended on adding one more one class every year. The first four classes are: Nursery, primary one, primary two and primary three. Good Friends Junior School officially opened on 2 February 2015. LOCATION

OUR VISION
Provision of quality education and good life skill to every learner in our institution through helping, supporting and guiding them to know the importance of education and dedication to the Lord. MISSION
- To promote and sustain academic excellence, discipline, quality and integrity by offering learners a push through counseling and guidance, inspiration and motivation. GOALS
- To promote good working relationship with the community and the Government.
- To provide social support to the orphans, vulnerable children, Pupils with disabilities, pupils from very poor families and the rest through counseling, workshops, meeting to the children and the community.
- To provide a good conclusive environment to the young children in the community.
- To create employment opportunities to the qualified but not employed.
- To provide education to the learners at a low cost and at free cost for the orphans, vulnerable children, children with disabilities and pupils from very poor families.
- To produce God fearing people in the community through teaching them how to believe and trust in the Lord. Core values

SCHOOL BODY ADMINISTRATORS

This comprises of four members and they are supposed to be guardians / parents and they include.

Structures
- We have one permanent block with two rooms i.e. the office and the store.
- We have one temporary block with four sections i.e. classrooms. Accommodation
- We do offer accommodation to some pupils who are homeless, who comes from very long distances and those who lack parental care and love(orphans). POLICIES OF THE SCHOOL
Good Friends Junior School has the following policies:
1. Feeding
We feed all our children on posh and beans for lunch, super and we give them porridge for break (some times rice if finance allows).
2. Discipline
All pupils of GFJS must be disciplined while at school and outside the school.
3. Academics
- Pupils must attend to all lessons, tests and exams provided by the school.
- All the pupils and teacher must follow the time table organized by the administrations.
4. Co-circular activities
All pupils have to attend to co-curricular activities organized by the school except those with special cases and such activities include; games and sports, music dance and drummer, Art and craft lessons, agriculture and many others.
5. Finances
Pupils have to contribute some money to support the project except the orphans, pupils with disabilities and pupils from very poor families.
6. Worshipping
All the pupils and the staff of Good Friends MUST attend to church services at school mostly every Thursday prayers and special days as organized by the board of the school.
7. Uniform
All children have be in full school uniform
Girls: Orange dress with white strips
Boys: Orange shirt with white strips and a black short.
8. The staff
On the staff we have the:-
The teaching and non teaching staff
The teaching: these are teachers who go directly to class to teach pupils
Non-teaching staff: These are the support staff that helps the teachers and learners and they include: the cooks, matrons, nurse, cleaners
Rules
- All pupils have to feed from school on the type of food provided
- All pupils must attend to all lessons taught at school including bible studies, and co-curricular activities.
- Pupils who come from home must arrive at school at 7:30am – 4:30pm.
- The staff members have to reach at school from 7:10am – 5:00pm except those on duty and those who care for those who stay at school. STRENGTH / ACHIEVEMENTS
- The school has enough land of above three acres for easy expansion.
- There is cheap labor in our community
- We have conducive environment with trees which makes it cool.
- The school has enough land for agriculture
- The school also has enough land for development like brick laying
- Our school is a bit far from the trading centre where by there is no too much noise for the people in the trading centre. Challenges
- Fees payments for those who pay school fees, it is very poor.
- Most of the pupils of Good Friends lack school uniforms.
- Poor means of transport at school.
- We lack enough facilities like buildings for a conducive learning environment for learners.
- We lack special latrine for special cases like the people with disabilities.
- The school lacks enough funds to facilities its programs like paying teachers in time.
- Feeding for the pupils and the staff is still very poor.
- We lack an orphanage house where by we just rent where we keep our pupils.
- The school lacks health facilities to handle simple illness and accident cases at school.
- We lack the church / special room for worshiping our Lord where by most of the time we just use one of classroom.
- We lack the water sources near the school. Way forward
We believe the lord in the next two to three years to achieve the following. Buildings
- Permanent classrooms for our pupils
- An improved pit latrines which can even cater for the people with disabilities
- An orphanage house / home for our pupils
- The church for our prayers
- Increase of the number of pupils, teaching and non teaching staff.
- Developing a more conducive learning environment with full modern playing materials for our young children.
- Getting learners bibles, reading books and writing materials for our pupils.
- Be able to pay salaries to the teaching and non teaching staff in time.
- To have more conducive environment with more trees
- To have income generating activities for the school like poultry keeping, Animals rearing and many others. Opportunities
There is room for growth and expansion with the availability of enough land.
- Hope to pattern with some non-governmental organization like community development organization for people with disabilities.
- There is hope for an increase in the number of pupils and workers. Threats
- There may be loss of lives and school property in change of weather like storms, heavy rains lightning and thunder.
- There may be a threat of labor turn over due to lack of enough funds.
- Due to poor health facilities there may be loose of lives. Conclusion
This school is built on the foundation of these three principles of faith, hope and love. We believe and know that with GOD all things are possible. IN JESUS’ NAME WE BELIEVE
