Application for the loan shall be as follows:-

2. Every application shall be accompanied with;
1. A copy of admission letter from the university/institution
2. A valid identification document
3. Copies of certified academic certificates or result slips and transcripts
4. A copy of birth certificate or a passport
5. Three most recent passport photos
6. Prescribed/application fees
7. A reference letter from an individual in social standing
8. Fully filled completed application form
9. Accurate present residence/home sketch map

CALL FOR LOAN APPLICATIONS
The Higher Education Students’ Financing Board hereby invites applicants for Education Loans for the academic year 2015/16.
1.0 Background
The Higher Education Students Financing Board (HESFB) was established by an Act of Parliament to manage the Students’ Loan Scheme. The Board has received funds from the Government of Uganda to be used for financing the Ugandan Students who are pursuing studies in Higher Education Institutions in Uganda.
The objectives of the Students’ Loan Scheme are:- (1) to increase equitable access to Higher Education in Uganda; (2) to support highly qualified students who may not afford Higher Education; (3) to ensure regional balance in Higher Education services in Uganda;
The HESFB therefore invites applications for loans from eligible Ugandan students who have been admitted for the programmes / courses listed in table 1 and in the Universities listed in table 2 for the academic year 2015/16.
2.0 Vision and Mission of HESFB
Vision: Access to Higher Education for all Ugandans
Mission: To provide financing to eligible Uganda students admitted at Higher Education Institutions as a way of increasing equitable access to Higher Education.
3.0 Eligibility into the Scheme

Pursuant to Section 20 (1) of the Higher Education Students Financing Act 2014, the scheme is for Ugandan students seeking to pursue Higher Education in accredited institutions of higher learning recognized by the National Council for Higher Education and also pursuing the undergraduate programmes shown in table 1. Due to the limited funds allocated for the Scheme, the Board shall award loans to students pursuing such programs in year I & II.
4.0 APPLICATION PROCESS
4.1 Loan Applications
Eligible applicants should get application forms from the participating Universities; Office of the Academic Registrar; the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology & Sports website http://www.education.go.ug, or the Higher Education Students’ Financing Board website http://www.hesfb.go.ug, from the Higher Education Students’ Financing Board Secretariat or from any Centenary Bank Branch across the country.
4.2 Submission of application forms
On completing the application form, you are required to submit your application to any of the Centenary Bank branch and pay Ugx 20,000 (Uganda Shillings Two Thousand Only) as processing fees.
Please note that the Pay-in Bank Slip should be properly kept and will form the first level Loan Application acknowledgement receipt.
Please ensure that you read the application form carefully and attach all the relevant documents as spelt out in the form.

9.0 Students’ Loan Coverage
The Students’ Loan will initially cover tuition fees, functional fees and research fees. The loan shall also cover aids and appliances for persons with disabilities.
NB:
1. Seek for the loan ONLY IF YOU NEED IT.
2. The application form is entirely free but a fully filled application form should be submitted to any Centenary Bank Branch after payment of Ugx. 20,000 (Uganda Shillings Two Thousand Only) as processing fees.
3. The student loans will only be awarded to students pursuing programs in years I & II.
4. Students who have received Government or other scholarships are not eligible for the loan scheme.
5. You will be informed of the outcome of your application through the Print media, the HESFB website, and or via SMS on your private telephone contact.
The closing date for receiving applications is Thursday August 14, 2015 1700 hours’ local time.

tips to join the loan scheme? u must first consider the programme under the scheme, choose from those programmes to fill the private application form .sit and wait for the university to admit u, then go to the bank and and get the hesfb application form, take time to fill the form coz it is soo tricky
