The International Day of Families, 2025 happed on the July 30, Sheraton Hotel, Kampala.
Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Makerere University, Child Health and Development Center together with other partners were instrumental in the celebrations.
The event was graced by the Hon. Minister Peace Regis Mutuuzo, Minister of State for Gender and Culture as Chief Guest, together with Dr. Godfrey Siu, Senior Lecturer Makerere University; Leader, Families, Parenting and Child Health Program at the same Institution, as the Keynote Speaker.

NATIONAL PARENTING SYMPOSIUM ALERT
SYMPOSIUM OVERVIEW
The Mama Tendo Foundation, in partnership with Makerere University, Child Health and Development Centre, and the MGLSD, is hosting a National Parenting Symposium on July 31, 2025, at Kololo Independence Grounds.
The event aims to spark a national conversation about the critical role of parenting in addressing essential topics such as s*x education, child wellbeing, and family resilience.
HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

OBJECTIVE
To influence the development of Uganda by emphasizing the importance of family in economic, social, and political growth

3. SHORT COURSE LAUNCH
Prof. Annet Nakimuli, Dean School of Medicine, Makerere University College of Health Sciences commeded the program as follows;

At the Launch of the course yesterday at Makerere University, Prof. Richard Idro, Deputy Principal of Makerere University College of Health Sciences had this to say;
"A century of influencing the future: As the College of Health Sciences, School of Medicine commemorates 100 years of enriching and , the Makerere University, Child Health and Development Center at Makerere University is launching a parenting course for practitioners involved in the development, supervision, and implementation of parenting interventions."

CONVENTION HIGHLIGHT - Boma Hotel, Nairobi Kenya
8th Annual Learning Convening on Preventing Violence Against Children in East Africa.
The Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development presented lessons on scaling the Parenting programme in Uganda and benefits of working with academic, development partners and CSOs through the Parenting Agenda.
Well Spring, one of the collaborators, recommended team work and strategically scaling programmes that meet parents need and develop skills to reduce Violence.
