LET THEM SHINE IN SAFETY (POEM)
By Aisha Nam Tetubatya
They walk beneath a burning sun,
Whose rays can harm instead of fun.
Yet still they rise, with heads held high,
Their spirits strong, their dreams can’t die.
Not ghosts, not myths, not tales of fear.
They’re human, real, and they are here.
With skin like snow and hearts like flame,
Each soul unique, each voice a name.
They’re hunted still in parts of earth,
For charms or myths that steal their worth.
But everyone with albinism born
Deserves a life that’s free, not torn.
Protect them as you would your own,
Their rights are real, their pain well-known.
No child should run from fear or knife,
Let’s stand and guard their precious life.
They need sunscreen, hats, and shade,
Not judgment, violence, or shame portrayed.
They need safe schools, and laws that shield,
And space to dream, to grow, to heal.
They are not different in their soul—
They laugh, they cry, they strive, they goal.
So let the world no longer hide
The truth that prejudice must slide.
Let Albinism shine in peace,
Let hunting, hate, and harm all cease.
Today we rise, we speak, we fight—
For every child born pale and bright.
Join me in the movement against discrimination of people with albinism.
