I know we love our children so so so so much that we want to be there when they are living out their life, jump inn to help when they are struggling with something even as small as fixing their building blocks, we just don’t want to see them to suffer while we are still alive. Many times we are even tempted to take on their tasks, because our natural response to ease life for them. Sometimes we even hesitate to discipline them or correct them when they do something wrong, fearing they will be angry, they will feel bad, we will damage our relationship with them etc. MY ENCOURAGEMENT: Control this parental tendency. You might unknowingly damage your child’s ability to solve problems, to creatively face tasking moments or slow down their cognitive development. Although it’s hard, allow your children to create, to struggle through a task, to fail and to re-do.
Concerning discipline, I encourage a principle we call on-spot discipline. Don’t address issues when time has long passed. Address you child’s mistake or shortfall immediately, at that moment. That’s when it will make sense, that’s when the lesson is best learned-Agatha Kisakye.
Allow your child to struggle and to fail
