Celebrating a phenomenal journey at the Inter-Schools Bible Challenge Season 2 finals! Last week on Friday, July 31, 2026, three of our brilliant children proudly represented our school at the grand finals hosted by Watoto Church Ntinda, standing strong among an impressive field of 21 competing schools that each fielded three top finalists. Our students delivered a beautiful performance, excelling in the Bible Knowledge and Spelling categories to successfully navigate through the rigorous knock-out preliminary rounds before bowing out during the fiercely competitive Scripture Recitation and Swords Up stages.

Standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the best young minds from across schools is no small feat, and we are immensely proud of our finalists, our devoted teachers, and our supportive parents who poured countless hours into preparing these children from March all the way to the finals. As the organizing team beautifully reminded us, this journey has always been about a much higher calling because the greatest victory is not winning a trophy, but having God's Word hidden in our hearts.

While the competition has concluded for this season, the true success lies in seeing our children passionately study Scripture, grow in unshakeable confidence, and lay a lifelong foundation to guide their daily lives. Thank you to Watoto Church ministries for inspiring us to continue raising a generation of Godly transformational leaders who will influence their schools, families, communities, and nation for Christ. On July 4th, the FNC family had the joy of celebrating the wedding of our beloved School Administrator Bukoto Campus, Gorret, and her husband, Fredrick. For over ten years, Gorret has faithfully served the FNC family with integrity, commitment, humility, and a deep love for God. She is a woman of prayer, rooted in the Word, and faithfully serves children through Sunday school at her local church University Community Fellowship. Her leader in the Children’s ministry beautifully described her as “the true definition of commitment” a description that perfectly captures the person we have known and worked with over the years.
One of the most memorable moments of the celebration came through something many guests did not expect. During the reception, specifically as guests were being served the sumptuous meal, the music that filled the atmosphere was not provided by one of the professional wedding bands usually hired in Kampala. It was the FNC band, our very own students. The quality, confidence, and excellence of their presentation were so impressive that the MC had to pause and point out to the guests that this was not a professional band hired from the city, but rather students from the school where Gorret serves.
Behind that beautiful moment was a story of sacrifice and discipline. During their three-week school holiday, these students chose to dedicate their time to preparing for this occasion. They practiced for more than four hours every day, Monday to Friday, giving up their holiday time so that they could serve with excellence. They were not simply performing; they were honoring God, celebrating their administrator, and serving the FNC family. As we watched this unfold, we could not help but reflect on the journey of FNC. Many years ago, this ministry began through Friday Night Church, with worship at the very heart of what God was doing. As the journey unfolded, God led us into education, as it now seems, not as a departure from worship, but perhaps as an extension of it.
The vision was never simply to create a school that produces academically successful students. It was to raise true worshippers who carry Christ into every sphere of society. Students who understand that their gifts, their skills, and their future professions are all opportunities to glorify God. The classroom, the workplace, the marketplace, and every area of influence become places where worship happens. Excellence then becomes an offering and work a form of worship. Watching the FNC band minister to the guests through music, and the FNC staff serve at Gorret’s wedding was a glimpse of that vision becoming reality. They worked with the joy and commitment of people serving someone who belonged to them; not because they were hired, but because she was family.

FNC Academy's Journey to the Bible Challenge Grand Finale

At FNC Academy, our Spiritual Pillar isn't just a statement on paper, it is the heartbeat of our school. Every morning begins with devotion, and the first lesson our learners receive is the Bible. We are convinced that before children can live out God's Word, they must first know it, love it, and allow it to shape their lives.

The Inter-Schools Bible Challenge – Season 2, organized by Watoto Church Ntinda, has given us the privilege of witnessing the fruit of that daily investment. From the moment our learners entered the competition, it became clear that they were not preparing for an event—they were drawing from years of consistently engaging with Scripture. The challenge simply became a natural extension of what happens every day in our classrooms.

During our internal competitions, our learners displayed remarkable confidence, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for God's Word. They excelled in General Bible Knowledge, Memory Verses, Bible Application, Spelling Bee, and the exciting "Swords Up" Scripture Recall challenge. More importantly, they proved they were not merely memorizing Scripture but understanding it and applying its truths to everyday life.

Five outstanding learners went on to represent FNC Academy in the preliminary inter-school competitions, broadcast nationally on NBS Television. Watching them confidently handle God's Word before a national audience filled our entire school community with pride. Three of our learners have qualified for the Grand Finale, to be held on 31st July 2026 at Watoto Church Ntinda. While reaching the finals is worth celebrating, it is not our greatest victory. Our greatest joy is seeing children develop a genuine love for Scripture, grow in wisdom and Christian character, and build a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Those are victories that will last far beyond any competition.

This achievement reflects the vision upon which FNC Academy was founded, a vision that places the Word of God at the very Centre of education. We are deeply grateful to our Vision Bearers for laying this foundation, to our dedicated teachers and supportive parents for faithfully nurturing it, and to our learners for hiding God's Word in their hearts and living it out.

Finally, we thank Watoto Children's Church Ntinda for this wonderful initiative. The Bible Challenge is doing far more than hosting a competition, it is helping raise a generation that knows, cherishes, and lives by God's Word.

As our finalists prepare for the Grand Finale, we invite the FNC community to keep them in prayer. May the Lord grant them wisdom, confidence, and joy as they represent Christ and FNC Academy with excellence.

FNC Bukoto Career Day (Preschool through Grade 2).

The morning of May 20th brought a completely different energy to our Bukoto Campus. Every year, Career Day at FNC connects what our students learn in class with what lies ahead in their future. Last year was all about "doing," with students showing off their own creative projects. This year, under the theme "Be Inspired," we wanted to focus on something more personal: the actual journey of growing up and building a life.
Growing up is rarely a straight line. Usually, students only see the final result, the doctor in the white coat or the teacher at the front of the room. They don’t see the mistakes, the changes in direction, or the lessons learned along the way. That is why we asked our speakers to leave the polished lectures at home and just tell their real stories. We asked them to answer the questions our students are constantly thinking about: "Did you always know you’d end up here?" "What do you wish you knew when you were sitting in these exact desks?" and "What actually helped you keep moving forward?"
The day at Bukoto came with a beautiful surprise for our students. Almost every single professional who spoke, all but one guest speaker, actually works right here at FNC! It was incredibly powerful for the children to realize that the mentors they need are already walking the halls with them every day. Our students listened to a medical professional talk about the real dedication it takes to care for patients, and a catering entrepreneur share the hard work and long hours it takes to turn a love for food into a business. A fashion and design professional opened up about how to handle criticism and build a brand from scratch, while our own teaching professionals spoke about the joy and responsibility of guiding the next generation.
As the students listened, you could see things starting to click. Hearing people they see every day talk about the walls they hit—and how they climbed over them—makes a student's dream feel less like a wish and more like a real plan. It gave our children a true vision, showing them that the path to success is open to anyone willing to keep growing.
With the stories from Bukoto still fresh in our minds, we are now getting ready for our next stop. On May 28th, 2026, we are bringing this same energy to the Busiika Campus. We can't wait for another day of honest conversations and discovery. It’s these real moments that give our students the confidence to look at their own futures and say, "I can do this too."

There are stories that don’t just inform you… they reshape how you see vision. Christine Atukunda is one of those stories. She was just a young girl when she wrote a heartfelt letter to Wendy Gilliland, one of the co-founders of what would later grow into FNC Academy and Faith Nurtured High School; a letter that later became the inspiration behind the book Dear Teacher Wendy. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s worth getting a copy to understand the journey behind this story.
In that letter, she simply asked for help to go back to school, a child’s honest cry. Nothing more… yet nothing less! At the time, education was not even the original direction of the ministry. But that one letter became a turning point and catalyst that God used to redirect and expand the vision. What followed was the birth of a school from humble beginnings with 23 students and 5 staff members.
Today, that vision has grown into a fully registered structured school system, running two campuses from early learning to K–12. The main campus spreads across a beautiful 13+ acre campus and has already graduated two classes. And Christine? She belongs to the pioneer graduating class (2024). Full circle doesn’t even begin to describe it. She is now pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with Education (English and Literature) at Victoria University in Kampala.
Even more powerful, she now serves as a Grade 1 teaching assistant at the Bukoto Campus of FNC while studying in the evenings. The same place that once received her as a child… is now the place she serves. The same classrooms that once shaped her as a little girl are now shaped by her as she gives hope to the hopeless. That’s what vision does. It doesn’t move in straight lines. It moves in generations. One small voice, One letter, One yes from the founders, and a whole future changed.
To everyone who has prayed, supported, and believed in the journey of FNC Academy and Faith Nurtured High School, this is your reminder: What begins as obedience to one child can become a legacy for many. And sometimes, that child grows up and comes back to carry it forward. We are deeply grateful for how far God has brought us. And even more expectant for what is still ahead. The best is yet to come!
