This is our way of reconnecting, reuniting, educating, preserving, archiving the stories and the beauty of our indigenous dialects through hip hop.
THE URBAN INDIGENOUS HIP HOP PRACTICE. As we continue to celebrate hip hop Kulture in Uganda, it has become very important to highlight and put focus on one of the major elements which have played a vital role in reconnecting the hip hop generation not only to hip hop but also to the unique innovative entrepreneurial spirit found within its various practices. Here in Uganda we would like to say t
he major hip hop elements that have been primarily used are Deejaying, Graffiti, Breaking & Emceeing. For those who have documented hip hop from the indigenous context you will find that they have missed out on certain powerful components such as the Knowledge which is also known as the 5th element, Beat Boxing, Fashion, Street Language and the Entrepreneurial Spirit. Recently a few of these unexplored elements are starting to be embraced by young men and women who are seeking to contribute and strengthen the foundation of indigenous hip hop in Uganda.
