UNAC Concept note for the world international CP-Day cerebration.
1.0 Introduction:
UNAC is a non-government organization established in 2013 to advocate for the rights of people with Cerebral palsy. The organization was established by a group of people with Cerebral palsy after realizing that their rights were being violated and were not benefiting from government and mainstream NGOs programs.
UNACâs Mission is âEmpowering persons with cerebral palsy to advocate for their rights through participation in sustainable development initiativesâ.
Cerebral palsy is a lifelong disability that affects movements and is often accompanied by speech, swallowing, cognitive, vision and hearing impairments. It is caused by an injury to the developing brain which occurs before, during or soon after birth. For most cases the cause is unknown.
Cerebral palsy is the most common physical disability in childhood. It affects 17 million people globally and 350 million family members and caretakers.
As the organization of persons with cerebral palsy disability, UNAC plans to join the rest of the World, to commemorate the World cerebral palsy day, which happens on 6th October annually, to raise awareness about CP as well as create an enabling environment for Persons with CP to participate âIn inclusive development and decision making process at all levelsâ.

THE STATE OF CHILDREN WITH CEREBRAL PALSY IN RURAL AREAS NEEDS URGENT INTERVENTION
During the identification of children with Cerebral palsy we came across the children below whose situation is alarming. To make the matter worse some of these children were found locked inside the houses from early in the morning up to late hours in the evening without any meal and the visiting team was informed by the neighbors that these children have been living in this situation for long. Their families gave up on them.
