During another significant segment of his address at the 10th Graduation Ceremony of Proline Film Academy held on 2nd May 2026 at Hotel Africana, Kampala, the Chairman of the Uganda Cinematographers Association (UCA), Mr. SaintJude Nyanja Kusasira, emphasized the importance of mentorship, professional networking, and continuous industry support for graduates entering Uganda’s film and visual production sector.

Mr. Nyanja encouraged the graduands to value mentorship and professional guidance from experienced creatives within the Uganda Cinematographers Association, noting that such mentorship plays a vital role in supporting young professionals beyond their academic journey and into the practical realities of the industry.

He further highlighted the importance of advocacy and representation through UCA membership, explaining that the Association continues to serve as a collective voice for cinematographers, videographers, and visual creatives in addressing industry challenges, promoting professionalism, and safeguarding the interests of its members.

Additionally, Mr. Nyanja informed the graduates about the various professional benefits associated with UCA membership, including discounted access to production and rental equipment through partner rental companies affiliated with the Association. He noted that such opportunities are intended to ease access to professional filmmaking tools and support the growth of upcoming creatives within the industry.

He also emphasized the Association’s commitment towards providing legal guidance and financial support initiatives for members whenever necessary, further strengthening the welfare, protection, and sustainability of creatives operating within Uganda’s film production industry.

His address served as an important reminder to the graduands that success within the creative industry is greatly strengthened through unity, mentorship, professional collaboration, and active participation within recognized industry bodies such as UCA.

At the 10th Graduation Ceremony of Proline Film Academy (PFA) held on 2nd May 2026 at Hotel Africana, Kampala, the Chairman of the Uganda Cinematographers Association (UCA), Mr. SaintJude Nyanja Kusasira, delivered a remarkable and inspirational address centered on youth empowerment, professional growth, and the future of Uganda’s film production industry.

In his address, Mr. Nyanja expressed profound appreciation to parents and guardians for the sacrifices and investments they continue to make towards supporting the education and creative development of their children within the film and visual production sector. He emphasized that nurturing talent through professional training is a significant step towards addressing the growing unemployment challenge among the youth in Uganda.

Mr. Jude Nyanja further reflected on the establishment of the Uganda Cinematographers Association (UCA), noting that the Association was founded in 2012 with the vision of uniting videographers, cinematographers, camera operators, and other visual creatives under one professional platform dedicated to the advancement of the industry. Since its inception, he has continued to serve as Chairman, providing leadership, mentorship, and representation for creatives within the film sector.

He explained that the Association was established to create opportunities for creatives to share industry knowledge, technical skills, and professional experience among members, while also promoting collaboration, innovation, and collective growth within Uganda’s rapidly evolving creative industry.

Mr. Nyanja further highlighted the critical role that organizations such as UCA continue to play in inspiring and empowering young people by opening pathways for employment, entrepreneurship, and professional networking within film production, cinematography, and digital media. Through mentorship, skills development, advocacy, and industry engagement, the Association has continued to inspire many youths to pursue sustainable careers within the creative arts sector.

His address stood as a powerful reminder of the importance of unity, professionalism, and continuous learning in building a stronger and globally competitive film industry in Uganda.

Part - 2 for Mr. Patrick
During the 10th Graduation Ceremony of Proline Film Academy held on 2nd May 2026 at Hotel Africana, Kampala – Uganda, Mr. Patrick Verstraet, CEO of Cams & Grips, delivered an insightful and inspiring speech to the graduands and guests in attendance.

In his address, Mr. Patrick elaborated on the distinction between contemporary art and audio-visual practices, emphasizing how modern filmmaking and visual storytelling continue to evolve through technology, creativity, and global industry standards. He explained that while contemporary art focuses more on conceptual and expressive interpretation, audio-visual practices combine technical precision, storytelling, sound, cinematography, and visual communication to create impactful productions for global audiences.

He further highlighted the importance of understanding these differences, especially for young filmmakers seeking international exposure and opportunities within the global creative industry. He encouraged the graduands to continuously sharpen both their artistic vision and technical skills in order to compete effectively in the international film market.

Mr. Patrick also spoke passionately about the future of the Ugandan film industry, encouraging emerging filmmakers to embrace innovation, professional discipline, collaboration, and continuous learning as key pillars for elevating Uganda’s presence on the international stage.
