Combining PACE work with Digital competencies is a wonderful combination for students. In today's age of digital transformation it's a huge disservice if your teachers are not up to date with the latest technological advances and tools so as to foster learning. The 2023 OECD reports highlights key areas of concern on Teacher Digital Competencies and explains why it is very relevant. (Please look for it if you are running an International school).

*VITAL TIPS FOR HONOURABLE TEACHERS IN 2024!*

1. Avoid familiarity with parents. It has destroyed many.

2. Avoid being too playful with students. If they see you as being too playful, they'll never take you seriously and it would cause you problems.

3. You must have some level of firmness to be able to manage your classroom. It is a sign of incompetence if other teachers come to ask the students to stop making noise when you are in the class.

3. Mind your words when you address your students. Don't speak "fwaaaa"!

4. Carry yourself with pride. Dress well and smell nice. Make good hair. This will give you an edge.

5. Even if you are poor, do not let your students think so, they will look down on you. Poverty doesn't have to look and smell on you.

6. Never ask your students to lend you money, it is a step to downfall.

7. Do not join parents to speak bad of your school. It's regrettable and unprofessional.

8. Do not gossip with your students. It cheapens you. It's worse if you're gossiping about a fellow teacher.

9. Don't give assignments you can't mark. But don't let this stop you from giving an appropriate amount of assignments.

10. Never eat your students' food. That's a weapon they'll use against you one of these days.

11. Prepare yourself before going for a class. It is a shameful thing for your students to keep correcting you in your own subject.

12. When a student asks you a question whose answer you don't remember, quickly throw it back to the class and afterwards tell them how important it is that they should know it. Make them take it home as an assignment. This will give you the chance to make your own research too. That said, know when it is a mark of honour to share that you're not sure of the answer and that you will research about it and tell them later. It's a way to demonstrate intellectual honesty.

13. Quit that act of stopping over at parents' houses to charge your gadgets. In most cases, it exposes you to ridicule.

A Learning Center is designed to create ambience for Learning! From the height of the office tables and chairs to the decorations on the walls. All must uniquely focus on creating atmosphere suitable for Learning and having fun. Does yours achieve this objective or you can explain?

Preschool level is basically a level to learn through play. Every Preschool trainer needs to appreciate the value of playing hard and having fun at this level. The moment kids are cornered into Mental activities that barely connect with their physical and emotional aspects then there is a problem. Its key that trainers at this level appreciate this trend of learning through professional training arranged by the school administration. A lot has changed in teaching and Learning and a lot has not changed in the minds of so many Preschool teachers. What have you done to bridge this gap?

FATHERS AND THEIR CHILDREN'S EDUCATION.

In which class is your child? Who is their class teacher? What was their performance last term? What's their favourite subject? Who is their best friend? How involved are you, as a father, in the life of your children --- particularly their education?

By 6:29am on September 8, I was entering the gate of the school where my children study from. It was the first day of the third term. On the Parents' WhatsApp group two days before that, as fathers, we had asked any father available to come so that we welcome children as they return for the last term of the year.

By 6:50am, the first children, my two children, who had left me at home and used the school van, arrived, only to find me already there waiting to welcome them to school (I usually do this at a personal level). I welcomed them. They were surprised that I was at school first since they had left me home a few minutes before that. They were happy. They exclaimed. We hugged. We smiled.

I welcomed a few other children before several other dads joined me and we welcomed the whole school, child after child, teacher after teacher, administrator after administrator, support staff after another, right there at the gate, with smiles, hugs, handshakes, high-fives, accompanied by positive words of both welcome and blessings for the new term.

We bent down and lifted the little ones. We opened our arms and hugged the big ones. We shook hands with the boys and did short, mild arm wrestling. 😆 We spoke positivity into our dear teachers. Passersby smiled as they watched us manufacture smiles at the gate. And when all was done, we held hands in a circle at the school gate and prayed a blessing upon the school for a successful term.

MY 3 OBSERVATIONS:
==================

1. GETTING DROPPED: Approximately, about 15% of children were brought by their fathers, about 35% by their mothers, and about 50% by the school

Proverbs 22:6: Says Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it.
This is a monumental Task for all parents and educators. The Question however is not where should this training take place? The real question is WHO is training your child? Do they understand the above task? Do they have a vision that matches with the one the Almighty creator, the giver and destiny maker of all children has for your children or they can explain?
Training of every child must be God centered, filled with love care, understanding and appreciating the fact that we are all created different and Children are no exception. And hence, must be supported, nurtured and trained with the aim of bringing out their inherent God given Potential.
