In 2013 we ran an exchange powered leadership program in Iganga district. The aim of the initiative was to equip student leaders and young people in selected institutions of rural and urban areas of Iganga district for 6 weeks. The project was implemented with support from AIESEC Exchange participants from Germany,Canada and the Netherlands. The Initiative was crowned with the Developing Leaders day to create a forum of discussion on the perspectives of youth leadership and the way forward. We continue to be inspired by the stories of the participants and facilitators to date. This year we plan hold a youth convention in the middle of the city. We shall keep you posted.

Are you looking to transform yourself and/or your community, but don't know how? Look no further as the YALI Regional Leadership Center East Africa is extending the deadline for applications for Cohort 4 & 5 until October 23 at 5 pm EAT. Going through the leadership training program is a great opportunity, and the right step towards establishing yourself as a young African leader. The application is available online, to access it click here.https://www.yalieastafrica.org/
Application Tip:
Don’t just fill out the application – really explain your passion, your interests, your drive, and your Commitment! One of the biggest mistakes that applicants make is that, they merely list their accomplishments, but they don’t actually explain HOW and WHY they are improving their community…this information is critical for helping the selection committee to get to know the applicant. By sharing more about how you are individually impacting the world around you, you offer reviewers a glimpse into your potential to leverage the skills, education, and experiences that you might have if confirmed as a participant. Don’t just list, Commit!

Interventions targeted for young people have not been shaped from young people's perspectives and often have failed to empower youth. We change that by engaging young people to be strong actors in their own development.
