A DAY OF PURPOSE, REFLECTION & PROFESSIONAL GROWTH

Today, we held our General Assembly, bringing together students, tutors and school leadership for an important conversation about the journey of becoming a healthcare professional.

The Principal and tutors reminded students that training is more than attending classes and passing examinations. It is about building the discipline, attitude, knowledge, skills and character required to serve patients with competence, compassion and dignity.

Students were challenged to reflect on a simple but powerful question:

“Why am I a student?”

Understanding their purpose helps students appreciate the responsibility that comes with choosing a career in healthcare.

The Assembly also gave students an opportunity to learn about the history of Nsambya Hospital Training School and the enduring legacy of its founder, Mother Kevin, whose commitment to service continues to inspire the institution.

BUILDING EXPERIENCE. KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS.

Today, we are hosted hosting a One-Day Academic Workshop by ministry of health for our soon-to-complete midwifery, nursing and laboratory technician students.

The workshop is focused on preparing our students for the realities of today’s competitive job market, both locally and internationally.

Key areas include:

🔹 Management of health emergencies & infectious diseases
🔹 Communication, counselling & guidance
🔹 HIV/AIDS: prevention and management
🔹 Substance abuse prevention & rehabilitative care

Building future health professionals takes a partnership.

Today, we brought parents together for an important Parents’ Meeting to share, listen and strengthen the connection between home and school.

Our Principal highlighted the values that continue to guide our institution: integrity, professionalism, mutual respect, student-centeredness and innovativeness.

With more than a century of training and service, we remain committed to preparing students not only with knowledge and skills, but also with the character and values needed to serve with excellence and compassion.

During the student orientation at , our Principal reminded students that while they may come from different faith backgrounds, they are expected to respect and participate in the Catholic values and activities of the institution during their training.

Students were encouraged to attend Mass, daily prayers and the Rosary, while embracing the discipline and values that shape life at Nsambya.

Because healthcare training is not only about the skills you gain it is also about the character you build.

Yesterday, our campus came alive with talent, laughter and new beginnings

We hosted a special talent show for our health students while giving a warm welcome to our newest members of the Nsambya Hospital Training School family.

From amazing performances to new friendships, it was a beautiful reminder that training to serve others is also about building community, confidence and memories along the way.

Today, our students were oriented officially by our Principal Sr.Judith Kaddu so as to begin their journey.

Our Principal is reminded them that training is more than acquiring knowledge and skills it is about building character, discipline, compassion and a commitment to serve.

Today, we proudly concluded our Digital Skills Training at Nsambya Hospital Training School.

It has been a valuable learning experience, equipping our students and staff with practical digital skills and greater confidence to navigate today’s increasingly digital world.

We appreciate everyone who participated, shared their knowledge and contributed to making the training a success.

At Nsambya Hospital Training School, we believe that quality healthcare starts with continuous learning, innovation and a willingness to grow.

The training may be over, but the learning continues.

DIGITAL SKILLS. STRONGER CARE.

Healthcare is changing, and at Nsambya Hospital Training School, we are preparing our students to grow with it.

Through UCMB, with support from the Ministry of ICT, our health training students are being equipped with essential digital skills as healthcare facilities transition from traditional book registers to electronic registers (e-registers).

This transition is not simply about replacing paper with technology. It is about building a generation of health professionals who can confidently use digital systems to support accurate documentation, efficient information management and better continuity of care.

For us, training competent health professionals means preparing students with both the clinical knowledge and digital skills needed in today’s healthcare environment.

Because when our health workers are equipped, our health systems become stronger—and when our systems become stronger, patients receive better care.

At Nsambya Hospital Training School, we are not only training for today. We are preparing for the future of healthcare.
