WORLD WETLANDS DAY 2022
February 2nd every year is observed by people across the globe as World Wetlands Day to raise awareness about wetlands.
Wetlands are the 'kidneys' of our planet owing to their important function in purifying the water that we depend on daily, hence a need for their conservation.
They are also important ecosystems that contribute to biodiversity, climate mitigation and adaptation, fresh water availability, among others.
The main aim of this day is to bring communities together for the benefit of our mother nature and to understand the influence and positive production that wetlands have had on the world.
The theme of this year is "Wetlands action for people and nature" which highlights the importance of actions to ensure the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands for humans and planetary health which is our big role as Environmental Health practitioners.
