Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) is a profession that has largely been neglected by Industry in Uganda. However, OHS is COMPULSORY in the Oil and Gas Industry due to high level of risk and investment. Every Oil and Gas Company will be required to employ OSH professionals in order to qualify for contracts in Uganda.
The Government of Uganda, through its Oil and Gas Local Content Policy requires that before an Oil and Gas job is given to a foreigner, all qualified Ugandans should be considered first. In other words, qualified Ugandans have the first priority for Oil and Gas jobs, before foreigners are employed.
Uganda’s first Oil is expected to flow in 2020. If an international oil company like Total, CNOOC, Shell etc. came looking for Occupational Health and Safety Professionals, will you have the required qualifications?
