We are currently conducting a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) under the From Mines to School Project aimed at equipping AEP teachers with adaptable skills, collaborative learning strategies, and a mindset for ongoing growth.
The training will also enhance the pedagogical skills, resilience, and professional motivation of AEP teachers in mobile learning centres, enabling them to deliver high-quality, accelerated, and child-centered education that improves learning outcomes and retention for children from mining communities.

How mobile schools are making learning easier in Karamoja 13/04/2026

Yesterday the progress and impact our project featured on NTV Uganda .

Through the From Mines to school project implemented in the districts of Karamoja, the classroom is moving to where it’s needed most. For many children in Moroto, Amudat and Nakapiripiriti the daily reality is hazardous labor in the mines.

The From Mines to School project, we are using Mobile Learning Centers (Mobile schools) located directly in mining communities to ensure that learners acquire basic education through delivery of the Accelerated Education Program.

This transformation is made possible through our partnership with Oxfam in Uganda Resource Rights Africa generous support from the European union in Uganda Oxfam Novib Oxfam

With Resource RightsAfrica, today we took the Go Back to school campaign under the From Mines To School project to Kalita town council where we urged parents to ensure they send their children to school.

In Kokwochaya mining site in Lokales Subcounty Amudat district, we urged parents and caregivers to utilise the mobile learning centre in the area and ensure learners are not in the mines but rather at school.

Today we joined our colleagues Resource Rights Africa in Lotisan Subcounty in Moroto for a go back to school campaign under the From Mines To School Project to mobilize the communities to bring children to the mobile schools established in the mining areas.

The campaign is aimed at mobilising the people (parents and caregivers) to shun taking children to the mines and taking them to school as we move to reduce hazardous child labour in mining areas of Karamoja.

This week we joined Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group and other CSOs for a CSO Retreat on the National Budget Framework Paper (NBFP). This NBFP comes from Section 8 (3) and Section 8 (5) of the Public Finance Management Act, a paper that is Government's overall strategy for the budget and serves as a link between Government's policies and the annual budget detailing several sectoral expenditure plans and policies.

Our biggest interest was to take delve into how much government plans to invest in education and where the priority is in the upcoming budget.
