HOPE WAS AND IS NOT LOST

Genesis 3 : 15
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

After Adam wilfully sinning, everything turning upside down in his environment, they realised they were naked and covered themselves with leaves. God comes, questions them and they are guilty. Before God pronounces punishment upon them, he first gives them words of hope. The first Gospel sermon ever preached by God himself. "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel."

God gives them assurance that the woman's seed(who was to come) was to contend with the serpent(the devil) and triumph over him. What a loving God we have! The commander of the heavenly host, the only begotten Son of God offered himself to die for man's stead. With how much value should we regard this wondrous truth today!

This hope was not for only Adam and his wife, but for all of us who would come from them. God made a redemption plan then which has already been effected today. As simple as it was for Adam to accept the gift offered him, so should it be with us. Let us come boldly to the throne of grace, we shall indeed obtain mercy and salvation.

*CLIENTS OF THE GREAT ADVOCATE*

*1 John 2 : 1*
*My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.*

No sooner does the child of God enter the mercy seat than He becomes the client of the great Advocate. Here is the greatest truths--that Jesus is our advocate in the heavenly courts, that we are His clients. Though we may know little about the legal aspects of the plan of salvation, no merits to offer, we have have an Advocate who knows. One skilled in defence, One who offers His own merits on our behalf.

As Satan points to our failures, we may be tempted to despair. We may feel that our case is hopeless, that the stains of sin are too deep to be washed away. Then this is the time to look heavenward with confidence, knowing that our great Advocate is able to answer all of Satan's charges, and clear our record.

When we come to Him confessing our unworthiness and sin, He pledged to give heed to our cry. *"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need"* (Hebrews 4:16)
