Event management is in itself a form of project management. Students get a clear picture of what it means to work under tight schedules and budgets.

It takes much to successfully organize an event, from planning, meetings, dealing with changes and Uncertainties among others.

The measure of an event's success does not only lie in its ability to fulfill all its initial objectives but also in the endeavors to manage all the changes that come along the way.

It's a very beautiful thing.

Utilizing computer aided design software packages to simulate innovative ways of doing things before actually getting to build them is another marvel of engineering in itself.

Students analyse existing Engineering systems, and utilize their learned knowledge to make those mechanisms more efficient and effective in terms of energy consumption, production and running costs, and their footprint to the environment among others.

Digital twins create a virtual replica of a real structure and are proven to have numerous applications in an engineering Project lifecycle from conception, through design, actual construction to the structure's management.

These applications among others are known to enable engineers and designer model actual projects and simulate their functionality through different processes and actually detect potential challenges very likely to occur in the real Project.

Such knowledge can be applied in making key changes in designs prior to construction, which can save the teams from making costly mistakes such as having to demolish parts of a structure due to unforeseen challenges in design

Computer Aided Design, Virtual Reality and 3D Printing are some of the disruptive technologies hitting the engineering industry by storms.

Questioning whether these will at one point replace humans from their jobs is like asking whether the introduction of Pangas is to render butchermen jobless.

Those who adopt quickly are to learn how leverage the tools into their work and improve effectiveness and productivity

Climate resilience is the ability to anticipate, prepare for, and respond to hazardous events, trends, or disturbances related to climate. Improving climate resilience involves assessing how climate change will create new, or alter current, climate-related risks, and taking steps to better cope with these risks.

Ndejje IET On Campus Society is committed to Engineering a better tomorrow, including capacity development and sensitisation of the future engineers about urgent needs to tackle the current climate concerns

Team registration open until 31 August 2022 | Online
Join in the sprint against data carbon emissions

theiet.org/Hackathon

Did you know the carbon footprint of our gadgets, the internet and the systems supporting them account for 3.7% of global greenhouse emissions? That's on par with the airline industry! Do you have an innovative idea that could help reduce this number?

Open to innovators worldwide, our Hackathon challenge is dedicated to shining the spotlight on those pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the fields of infrastructure and software by creating a solution to reduce carbon emissions generated by data usage.

So, if you’re aged 18-35, choose your team and prepare your entries - we can't wait to see them. The winning team will receive a £2,000 prize and an expenses paid trip to London for our YP Summit on the 11-12 November 2022!

Register now – it's free to take part!
