✨ Helping Children Adjust to a New Curriculum or School ✨⭐

*Part Two*
6.🏡 Create stability at home: Keep routines consistent so children feel secure even as school changes.

7.💬 Listen actively: Give space for children to share worries or excitement. Sometimes, being heard is the biggest comfort.

8.🎯 Celebrate small wins: Recognize effort, not just results. Even if it is just passing their daily homework . Remember, confidence grows when children see progress step by step.

9.🤝 Stay in touch with his new teachers and as well as other parents. Just to share and even let the kid be comfortable. Teachers will update you on the child's progress and adjustment. As for parents, it's just for you and your kid to be comfortable. Besides, you will need someone to pick up your kid when you are running late at work and all your cousins are busy too 😇.

10.Stay in touch with tutors or homeschool educators. Sometimes the new international curriculums can be overwhelming. In this case, you call up your homeschool teacher to come fill the content gaps. You need to understand the expectations of the new curriculum/school and support learning at home.

✨ Helping Children Adjust to a New Curriculum or School ✨⭐

*Part One*

1.Plan for a full month of resources - books, textbooks, pencils, videos. In a new curriculum , you don't want to be caught off guard and you don't want your child to be lost in a new class and school but without necessary resources. So plan, order and buy these in advance.

2.Videos. Make use of Youtube and Tiktok. Find interesting videos of the new curriculum and school to make your child eager to join. It could be videos on tiktok of their speech day, culture day, sports day, anything that is interesting and exciting things posted by the school or other users.

3.Hire a homeschool teacher. If possible let a teacher experienced with that curriculum come in to tutor the child. This will help the child get familiar with the topics, content of the new curriculum hence reduce shock and low confidence created by meeting new subjects for the first time. Change can feel overwhelming for children—but with the right tutor / teacher support, it becomes an opportunity for growth.

4.Talk, talk, talk. Many parents underestimate the power of talking with the children to mentally prepare for the new environment. This is not only soothing, it helps in a multitude of ways: helps you preview the new curriculum together, highlight exciting areas, as well as reassure them. Most importantly, if you talk to your child about the new school prior, you are sending a message that they can talk to you in future about the school or curriculum in case they find challenges and this is very crucial for success. Also, it helps you bond.

5.👥 Encourage friendships: Arrange playdates or group activities to help them build connections in a new environment. If you know someone whose kids are already in that school or curriculum, organize some meetups for the kids to meet, bond and share about the school.

GOOGLE SEARCHING IRYN'S HOMESCHOOL KAMPALA.
Have you ever googled your name? Or your business? Apart from sighing with joy after finding yourself and a picture of you that you took ten years ago, what else, about the results, made you smile?

Here is how we are doing by the numbers.

So today, I was just Googling terms related to homeschooling in Uganda. and I will give you how Iryns Homeschool performs in Google searches basing on the first page of results and the first 10 results.

1. If you search "Homeschooling in Uganda", we come in as result no. 7. That is good. There are so many homeschools in Uganda now.

2. If you Google "Homeschooling in Kampala", we do pretty great. First of all, our homeschool is the first and second result you will get. That means our homeschool tops the 230,000 results of Google when you key in 'Homeschooling in Kampala' This is absolutely amazing.

Also, still on the first page of 'Homeschooling in Kampala' results, we appear as result number 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

What this means:
1. It is not very common to appear as number 1 in results in a Google search. Even when you google/ search both your names!
2. Appearing as number one in 230,000 results is a big deal. On a topic as wide as homeschool. Which is now becoming a trend in Uganda.
3. It shows us that having a blog/ website is great. Before it used to be our page that would appear in these searches. Yet many clients took long to log in and some did not have Facebook accounts. Hence we ended up missing out on business.
4. This search is a lesson for us. We might do well in results but we do not feature anywhere in video results. (In images we do quite impressively as well). So, we need a Youtube Channel and Youtube videos for our services. The world is moving away from text-scrolling and onto video-scrolling. But given that our clients are a bit away from the Gen-Zs, we are still safe. It is true we teach mainly Gen Alpha and we may teach some Gen-Zs, but the people who actually pay and therefore who search our services are Gen-Xs and Mellenials so, we are safe. For now.
5. When you get more specific and google 'Iryns Homeschool Kampala', all the first page results are about us, including posts I wrote as far back as 2020! But here is where it gets tricky, there ARE 191,000 results for that search term. It is like googling your name and it brings 300,000,000 results.

Anyways, it is a rewarding feeling knowing that our service is getting seen. Now I do believe clients who say I got your number online. Before it was 'I got your number on Facebook' because that is where I am most active. Now I need to get active on TikTok and Youtube with videos.
